I feel good about Espada. I am not a super baseball nerd like some of you, but what he did in game 5 of the ALCS showed me enough that I trust him next season.Farmer1906 said:
I think i know the answer to these but i will ask anyway. Is anyone on here unhappy or at least indifferent to this hiring? Is anyone worried about the falloff from Dusty?

Do you think we promote someone form within to bench coach or go outside? Honestly I'd love to see someone internally get promoted. I like the family atmosphere we have going right now and want to keep it going

I think Joe is going to crush it here.
One of my hopes is that he gets us back to an emphasis on defense. Back to being in the upper tier defensively rather than the craptastic showing on defense we saw last season. This may be a job more for Brown but I want Espada to get the best out of what we got on defense and I think last season was not it.
I also want to see a sense of urgency all season. I wanna see us get back to going for throats and pounding teams into submission. I don't mean running our guys into the ground and not giving rest days but just a general sense of urgency. Hell just something as simple as challenging plays when it's justified.
I feel like these are 2 things that slipped this season and 2 that are fixable starting in ST.
Onward and upward gentlemen!

If you think last year's defense was "craptastic" then you need to go watch some Red Sox, Reds, & Marlins.
Update: Joe Espada convinced Pettis to stay. Gary was eyeing a position with the Angels https://t.co/0uasFbppNj

Kind of like Snitker...our young hitting coach who has interviewed for at least one positionAg_07 said:
I'd like to see one of those young up and coming coaches that were on a few lists for the manager job get the a look for the bench coach position.
Don Kelly - Pirate's bench coach
George Lombard - Tiger's bench coach
Both would be lateral moves title wise but I would think coaching on this staff would be a step up and look better on a resume than coaching with the Pirates and Tigers

Tomorrow is the deadline for the Astros to protect Rule 5 eligible players on the 40-man roster. Three names to keep in mind: Kenedy Corona, Misael Tamarez and Shay Whitcomb.

He's going to the Dodgers. Any suggestion otherwise is an attempt to create drama where there is none.

Do you think he'll sign for a team just as a DH? Since he's had two UCL injuries his pitching future is suspect IMO

One more big plus with Espada is Spanish is his first language. Hinch spoke a little, Dusty a little, but Espada can have full on conversations with every player.
I wish he would have added "and won't be asked to be thanked later."Lonestar_Ag09 said:AustinCountyAg said:I didn't think it was that cold, besides throwing in looking for a manager who was "humble"Lonestar_Ag09 said:
Dana's intro speech. Ice cold to a former manager DAMN
A humble communicator who can collaborate
I took all of those as direct shots
I would have like to have heard the 3rd story after Espada's interview.bearkatag15 said:"If a guy is cruising, his stuff is still good... I'll look at that stuff. But also, you can't ignore the numbers..."

This. Most (if not all) of the guys on the roster can speak English pretty well.Farmer1906 said:
I think most of the players speak enough English to have normal conversation.
