Another thing to keep in mind... when Dana said that OF wasn't a priority, the conversation (at least to my understanding) was centered around free agency.

You'd need Dubon/Kessinger to fill in at SS until Matthews is ready.

Diaz is definitely untouchable. Even though Pena was disappointing last season, I'd rather not see him go, but I have a feeling he'd be in the mix... I'm not as versed in the farm system as others, but I would hope Loperfido is off-limits.

But yeah I think your options are solid

I don't think anyone is off limits in the minors. We let go of arguable our top 2 for JV. We should be willing to do more for LuBob.

You have 4 guys sharing the 3 OF spots and DH. You'd only need to really worry about a late defensive replacement. If Jake is still around he's the guy. If not there is Dubon if Kess is better at SS. If not we can always have someone from AAA come up. Kind of depends on who's left. I think Melton, Loperfido, Barber, Corona, & Dirden have all played multiple OF positions including CF.

For Robert I'd be okay with trading Pena. But only for somebody like him. Pena should be untouchable, unless you're offering me an established All-Star, who is still young and cheaper.

Why? You you don't trade him now and next year is a repeat of this year, you missed your chance to get value for him and to improve the team. Because Doubon can play SS and get you the same value as Pena did this year.

If you search across the league for the most valuable player with the most reasonable contract, the answer is probably Acuna followed by Alvarez. Unless I am missing someone obvious #3 is Luis Robert.

Maybe some of the rookies or young guys on their rookie deals - Carroll, Rutschman, Henderson, but they're more unproven and more risky.

Julio is in the mix near the top. Strider has the best pitcher contract.

It's hard to say anyone is off-limits. I would prefer not Diaz because he is in a position of need. Pena now has ~1200 PAs. I think he's proven he's a solid starter. I think he has the ability to become above average. He's not someone you let stop you from LuBob.

But, honestly, what do we think it will take to get him?

Brown?
Chas?
Pena?
Loperfido?
Melton?
Corona?

The price will be steep, considering how much club control is left.

I'm thinking it will be Brown, Arrighetti or Kouba, Loperfido or Baez and a lotto ticket prospect.
