I have watched every game of this series and the ALCS. If the Phillies don't come back in the 9th I have zero interest in watching any of a Diamondbacks-Rangers WS.

A Rangers vs Diamondbacks World Series matchup was 1,750-1 before the start of the season (odds via @BetMGM)

This matchup is the 2nd most unlikely matchup in World Series history behind the 1991 Fall Classic when the Twins (+4000 to win the AL) and Braves (+7500 to win the NL)…

To me this feels like it could go one of two ways:

1. 2007 - A hot NL team runs into an offensive juggernaut and gets dismantled.

2. 2010 - An AL team with a clear advantage on paper gets systematically dissected by a mostly small ball team that does all the little things.

Hard to get a feel for this one. Both teams were awful for much of the second half of the year for different reasons. Texas was was on a 100+ win pace before getting slaughtered by injuries late in the summer. Arizona has looked like the best team and worst team in baseball at different points.

By both of our fanbases? Absolutely.

We had a 4-16 stretch, only to be outdone by Arizona's 7-25 stretch. We're pretty even (86-56, 77-53) outside of those losing streaks.

'91 Braves/Twins? Both teams finished in last place in their respective divisions in '90 with the Braves having the worst record in MLB

I'm betting with the expanded playoff, you'll see more of this. It'll be a bit like the NHL and NFL playoffs, where upsets happen all the time, which I think is good for the sport.
