Someone on Premium asked a good question. Has there ever been an LCS with two teams from the same state?

The only possibilities I could think of are:

Dodgers vs Padres
Angels vs As
Pirates vs Phillies
Dodgers vs Giants
Giants vs Padres

I'm not much a baseball historian, but does anyone remember a LCS with those combinations? Surely it's happened.

Just did a quick wiki search for the results and didn't see any of those matchups mentioned. Unless I'm missing something this is indeed the first time two teams from the same state have matched up in the LCS.

They were talking about it on a Dallas area radio station and unless they were talking only about Texas, this is the third time in major league sport's history that 2 teams from the same state have faced off in a championship game/series.

The other two were Spurs and Rockets and then Spurs and Mavs, both basketball.

Maybe in a league championship but it's happened multiple times in World Series- off the top of my head NY Yankees/Brooklyn Dodgers multiple times and SF Giants /Oakland A's in the quake series.

Gotta admit the Rangers are playing with house money at this point. Next year was the year we were supposed to be good.

But Jung, Carter, Lowe and Heim said "naw right now is good".

The X Factor, imho, is Bruce Bochy, who has forgotten more playoff baseball than most will ever know. I think he's 10X the manager Dusty Baker is. Baker reminds me so much of Wash it's spooky.

I'd agree with you Bochy is an X Factor for the Rangers, but I think you are overselling it.

Head to head, at the beginning of the season was 82-110 against Dusty. So, with the this year's games, that goes to 86-119.

Either way, it will be a battle of experience.

Dusty struggled this year in the regular season, but he has a great knack of pulling the right strings in the postseason, especially on the road.

The Astros have so much talent and experience, its just hard to see the Rangers winning a long series with them. But I also know that baseball is littered with hot teams that just can't be beat in the playoffs. I think Houston wins in 4 or 5, in part because they probably won't lose in Arlington. But the Rangers have already proven to themselves that they are now ready for competing for a pennant. And they might just figure out a way to do this, too...

No way does either team sweep, but I still believe the Astros take this in 5, maybe 6 tops. I think the Rangers take 1-2 games, then the wheels completely fall off during bullpen games.

My wife bought Nate Bargatze tickets months ago for my birthday, for his Fort Worth show on 10/18. If I don't cancel this trip outright, I'd like to catch what I can of Game 3 after the show.

Can anyone recommend a good sports bar near Dickies Arena?

Not a sports bar, but Ye Olde Bull and Bush has a great selection of beers - no food though. And they will have the game on.

There's nothing really within walking distance of Dickies. But if you drive down Montgomery, just on the otherside of 30 is Railhead Barbecue. Good BBQ and they'll for sure have the Ranger game on in the bar and around the restaurant.

Tacoheads is right across the street from Dickies but it might have 1 tv in it. If you go down Montgomery away from 30 and then take a right on 7th, there's a World of Beer which is a good spot to watch a game too. And then of course there's a bunch of stuff around 7th street. Also, a tad bit further is Rogers Roundhouse behind University Village, but that's a good spot especially if it's nice outside. That's where I watched the A&M/Arky game.

So is Dubon gonna be a long term guy for y'all or is he just a stop gap? Made some good contact tonight, but don't know yalls plans for him. Thanks

Not sure. He's young, but he may really for the super utility role. He can play everywhere and competently.

He's not that young. He's a nice utility player.

What are y'all's thoughts on the Astros home struggles? It's weird. Is it too big of a sample size to be an anomaly?

And another random question, how often do balls hit the roof? Didn't really affect the game cause Semien ended up striking out or something but I'm not sure I've seen that happen outside of Tropicana. Was that ever an issue at the Astrodome?

Not super rare but not really common. The vast majority of the time it's a foul ball. I can only remember a couple that hit the roof and were fair balls.

It happens like a handful of times each year. The ruling is always really weird

From my understanding if it's in foul territory, it's a dead ball automatically. But if not then it's live.

Correct. It's where it hits the roof. If it hits in fair territory but ricochets and lands in foul territory, still a live ball or can be caught).
