Dude is out AGAIN because of a foul ball. If I were the Angels, I'd trade both and build up a minor league rosters that ranks last in MLB

An all time great when healthy, key phrase "when healthy", at this point. They'd have to send a boatload of cash to get any decent return, imo

How much do you think teams are willing to give up to get Trout? Assuming he's traded in the offseason, the team that gets him is on the hook for 7/260 M for ages 32-38. I guess when you compare it to Machado, Bogaerts, & deGrom it's not out of line, but those look to be terrible investments.

Saw this nugget this morning as I was scanning some updates:

  • Trout missed a month last season (back), missed almost all of 2021 (calf) and saw his 2019 season end prematurely (foot). He has played in at least 140 games just once since 2017.

He's obviously elite when he plays, but injury issues tend to get worse as players get older, not better.

From Age 19-27 (short rookie year included) he averaged:
  • 133 Games
  • 100 Runs
  • 84 RBI
  • 32 HR
  • 22 SB
  • 1.000 OPS
  • 176 OPS+

From Age 28-31 (short covid year included) he is averaging:
  • 72 Games
  • 51 Runs
  • 47 RBI
  • 21 HR
  • 2 SB
  • .969 OPS
  • 165 OPS+

Maybe he has slowed down a little (fairly big drop in 2023), but he's still elite when he's on the field. He just can't stay on the field.

Trout is getting into the Griffey type of discussion.

"Griffey could have broke the home run record if he just stayed healthy."

That is a good comparison. I'll throw Pujols, Miggy, & ARod in there too. Probably the 5 best players of the last 30 years not including Bonds.

From Age Rookie to Age 30
.958 OPS, 145 OPS+, 464 HR A-Rod
.948 OPS, 148 OPS+, 438 HR Griffey
1.050 OPS, 172 OPS+, 408 HR Pujols
.967 OPS, 154 OPS+, 365 HR Miggy
1.002 OPS, 176 OPS+, 350 HR Trout

Age 31+
.879 OPS, 132 OPS+, 232 HR A-Rod
.833 OPS, 114 OPS+, 192 HR Griffey
.781 OPS, 114 OPS+, 295 HR Pujols
.806 OPS, 120 OPS+, 143 HR Miggy
.862 OPS, 135 OPS+, 18 HR Trout

Trout has played his entire career with either Pujols or Ohtani in the lineup with him

(except for a couple of months in 2011)

and for a few years Trout played with both of them

they are arguably the 3 best players of the 21st century

only the Angels...
