Fitting ending for tonight
Semien is killing us at the plate lately. HOWEVER, I'll give him some leeway tonight as he was screwed by the ump a bit.

It's pretty sad that he posts with 1 sock, then stars it with his other socks. What kind of miserable life does a person have to do stuff like that. I guess he really took game 7 hard.

For who? I get Leody is struggling in the World Series but he's had some pretty big hits this postseason. Don't get the hate.
He's a black hole in the lineup rt now at a time when run support is at a premium. He doesn't hustle in center field and misplays as many balls as he doesn't. He's in a funk. Move Carter to center and put Grossman in left.

Grossman would be a downgrade in all facets. Offense, defense, baserunning. You name it

I'll go ahead and mention it….. what does it take to get Semien out of leadoff role???? Its not like he is bringing anything to the table right now.

So I was right. It was a double figure difference in favor of AZ. This was a 2-1 game headed to the 7th. Hard to know how it affected the outcome.

Maybe we still lose, but this game shouldn't be 9-1. So many of our hitters called out on balls and so many of theirs not punched out on strikes, and runs followed immediately after.
Arizona got all the breaks in both games and the series is still tied 1-1. Need to tap into that road warrior mojo that we've had going all playoffs long.

I know every game in the playoffs is important, but this next one with Scherzer on the mound and Pfaadt feels particular huge and like the one that could decide this series. Even though we won game one, I feel like we have been largely outplayed at times and have not adjusted to combat what Arizona does well.
They are tough. I don't recall ever seeing a team this fast up and down the lineup. All they gotta do is get a guy on 1st and then he's in scoring position shortly, and extremely tough to throw out at home on a single even with the guns in the TX outfield. They don't have to do that much at the plate to scratch out 4-5 runs on you.

Agreed. If not for one mistake to Seager, we'd all probably be doom and gloom and talking about the off season
One of the things I believe we need to be more willing to do is simply put the ball in play. Look at Arizona; they have a ton of guys who simply flick the ball in play and let their guys go run. Now, I understand they are the extreme example, but I would like to see some of our guys who are really struggling like Leody, Heim, and Semien just flick the ball in play. We have enough slug in Seager, Adolis, Garver etc.

I just can't get over how poor HP umpire was. I am still more annoyed we didn't go to sborz with the game as tight as it was.
It feels like they are a very tough team to deal with (and they certainly have been throughout the playoffs), but remember this was a .500 team with a negative run differential.

They're saying that he missed a call in their favor. I don't recall it. It was 11-0 by my count.
The story line all day yesterday before the game was that Kelly relied on hitters chasing the ball out of the zone and if the Rangers didn't chase pitches and were disciplined, the Rangers would win by forcing him in the zone.
I haven't gone through it yet, but thought I'd post. The Ump last night often widened the zone against only the Rangers forcing them to chase pitches out of the zone, if they didn't want to get rung up. Once the Rangers were forced to chase, it was game over.
I think this will only show part of it because it forced a changed behavior on the Rangers.

11 for AZ. 1 for TX. Of the 11 calls that went against TX, 9 resulted in a negative outcome for the AB for TX.

This team has a lot of power, but they are at their best when they manufacture runs. They aren't doing it this series.

One of the things about Perez, which has always been an issue for him is, not being able to shake off a bad call by the Ump.
Monty is disciplined enough to just move on. Perez, not so much. Which is why hd got a mound visit. Tthey tried to settle him. 2 of the notably bad calls were against him and he melted down.

**** like last night is why I don't believe sports at this level are clean. Too much money on the line and humans can be influenced. Ruins the game.
