Bannister is seriously a candidate for the Astros job?

I've told the Astro fans on the other board numerous times how lucky they were that Jim Crane picked Dusty Baker over Jeff Bannister when he tried to fill the job after Hinch got fired.

Banister and dusty were the only people I know Crane interviewed for sure.

Whatever happened to Tim Bogar. He was a hot up-and-coming commodity that I thought was a lock to replace Wash, didn't get the job, and his career trajectory basically fizzled since. He was minor league manager of the year in 3 different leagues.

Edit - Looks like he just got canned from the Nats bench coaching job

Dear God their heads would explode. Sure seems like they expect Joe Espada to get it though.

Crane is a moron and ignorant of all things baseball if his next manager doesn't come from F53 and the Astros season thread.

Those guys are baseball geniuses and can put together a lineup better than some HoF wannabe in Dusty Baker.

Right? The way Dusty continually screwed things up you would think that they would just go without hiring a manager and save themselves a little money.

If I had a quarter for every time the Astros thread said " dusty" or "maldy" over the past year, I could probably retire early and buy a huge mansion while I'm at it.

They blamed everything going wrong on those 2. They seemed to think that they would be this unbeatable juggernaut without dusty and maldy dragging them down to mere mortal status.

Seat Geek is the preferred reseller of the Rangers.

But, Ticketmaster, Tickpick, Vivid Seats etc all have them. Anything not standing room only right now are $750 from what I've seen. SRO is like $500+

Thinking about taking a chance to see if any tickets will drop around late Friday or Early Saturday and trying to head that way. Who knows though.

You'd at least have enough to by WS tickets.

Sucks how expensive it is. I'd love to go but can't justify spending more than a mortgage payment to take my wife and two boys to a baseball game.

Thanks. We actually have our end of season little league tourney this weekend, but if we lose on Saturday I may look to grab some last minute tickets and make the drive up.

Really well-written article over on LSB today

I'm way behind on the comment section, but this is a great article, Ranger homer tilt or not. But this part is just incredible:

"Early in the season, you could see this Rangers team being a serious threat to make the World Series. By the end of September, though? Come on. Even if the offense woke up and scored runs, the pitching staff was in shambles. This was a team commonly viewed as a speed bump for some other team's playoff run.

And why not? I mean, look at the roster of this club. Yes, there is the half-billion dollar middle infield that anchors the lineup. But after that?

Adolis Garcia, twice DFA'd, acquired by the Rangers from the St. Louis Cardinals for cash considerations.

Nathaniel Lowe, the guy shipped out by the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for three minor leaguers because the Rays believed they had better options to play first base.

Jonah Heim, former Player To Be Named Later, thrice traded, acquired by the Rangers from the Oakland A's, the A's parting with Heim, essentially, so they'd have to pay less of Elvis Andrus's salary.

Leody Taveras "former top prospect," as the national broadcast mentioned at least once every game, a guy who most Rangers fans had written off prior to this year and were ready to cut ties with.

Josh Jung, viewed as a reach at #9 overall in the 2019 MLB Draft because of questions about his power and glove.

Mitch Garver, the catcher who couldn't stay healthy, shuffled out of Minnesota for Isiah Kiner-Falefa.

Evan Carter, the former second round pick whose selection by the Rangers was mocked and laughed at in 2020, someone who spent most of the year at AA, who only got a shot in September because of Garcia's injury.

And that's without getting into the pitching staff, led by Jordan Montgomery, the pitcher traded by the New York Yankees in the middle of the 2022 season because he wasn't good enough to be in a playoff rotation."

Our best Hitter and Pitcher were both casted off to us by St. Louis.

I have a couple connections to St. Louis. They are both HUGE Cardinals fans and I thank them regularly.

On this day in history, FOX postponed Game 6 of the World Series due to inclement weather.

It ended up being a beautiful night in St. Louis (and a very long night for me and a buddy who were pre-gaming down the street from Busch that afternoon and suddenly had an open calendar).

Despite what happened in Game 6, this fake rain out due to fear of television ratings allowed former Cy Young winner Chris Carpenter to pitch Game 7 of the World Series instead of just-a-guy Edwin Jackson.

Never forget.

St. Louis owed us in my opinion. They played that dirty ass trick by cheering and lobbying for the rain out in the World Series that made rangers fans look at Chris Carpenter's ugly ass face 3 times instead of just 2.

Keep an eye on StubHub as well.

Upper deckers in the five hundreds now.

As a season ticket holder, I do a lot of reselling. Tomorrow morning is when individual sellers will start to panic. You can't roll this ticket into anything else, so if you don't sell, you lose everything.

If it were me - and I live dangerously - I'd go to the game without a ticket and scoop up late discounts around 6 PM. Hell, wait until after first pitch and you'll get seats dirt cheap.

It drives my wife crazy - "WhAt If It SeLlS oUt???" Well, then we'd go home. But it never does.

How or where do I buy tickets after the first pitch? Around the stadium or online someplace?
Proposition Joe
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Either one, though I'd trust online more than guys around the stadium (even if they are willing to transfer to you while you wait, it's a pain in the ass).

If you buy online after first pitch, I'd suggest Seatgeek as they are integrated with MLB so the tickets should be instant. I believe Stubhub is still integrated as well. Vivid Seats, TickPick, etc... are solid places to buy, but they are not integrated for MLB so you'll run the risk of having to wait for seller to transfer you the tickets. Most of the time that's automated, but I wouldn't want to be waiting after first pitch hoping my order gets sent.
fc2112
How long do you want to ignore this user?
StubHub is still integrated. I've bought tickets and walked in 2 minutes later.

I only buy online. I do not trust anyone on the fly forwarding me tickets.

EDIT: a handful of 200 level seating has dropped into the five hundreds.

We can't go this weekend but my plan for next weekend, assuming the series is still going, is to hit Texas Live! about 4 and then scouring the online marketplaces until about 6 to find a decent price. If I can't do that, then I'll watch with other Rangers fans in Texas Live!

And for anyone there Fri or Sat and wants to have a beer, our new pre-first-pitch spot is the Evan Williams Lounge. Took me a whole season to finally find a spot with food I like - Birria Quesadllia and a beer and watch the pre-game warmups from field level.

Yeah, it was very well thought out in stadium design - brother in law and I were talking about that the other day. Due to anyone having access to that lounge requiring better seats for the game than that lounge provides, it means that lounge doesn't really get overly crowded.
