A few things that I think are contributing to our inconsistency right now:
1. Injuries and an inconsistent lineup;
2. Summer baseball (it's a long season to try and stay locked in day after day);
3. Inability to throw strikes;
It all starts with pitchers throwing strikes imo. When you throw strikes, the guys behind you are more engaged with the game, but when you can't get the ball across the plate they can't stay as engaged. This leads to mental errors in the field and missed opportunities at the plate. My point about summer baseball is more geared towards the young guys than the veterans. The young guys are still trying to figure out how pro ball works this far into the season.
With that being said, this team needs to get on it and figure it out again. We need an August similar to what April and May were. Most teams in the MLB have average or even below average months, but the good ones find their groove again and pick it up at the end of the season.

Really need to win these next 2. SD may do something stupid, like not sell, if they sweep or win this series. The Cubs are already reconsidering selling cuz of their recent hot streak. If SD does too then the price and options for SPs and relievers just got jacked up.
Still can get 2 out of 3 here. That is what we need to do. Have a feeling that help is on its way. At this moment I would be willing to give up Carter for Snell. With Nate and Snell at the top of the rotation that will be a huge advantage.

Giving up our top prospect, who is also regarded as a top 10 prospect in all of baseball for a 2 month rental would be the worst trade in this franchises history. Absolutely not.
