A Michael Young hire would make me roll my eyes a bit but there is precedent for first time managers having success, Aaron Boone being probably the biggest example recently

The team just looked sloppy too often. That's not all on the manager, but you can't let that go on and keep a guy around.

Oops meant to say I guess significant former player first time manager. Boone isn't what Young was to the Rangers but he's definitely a "significant" player to the Yankees IMO.

Not saying I want Young, just using the Boone example as a comparison. That being said I have no idea who the hell we'd hire. I definitely agree Joe Maddon can kick rocks. The Angels were a disaster under him this year

Friday night, soft fly ball to shallow left. Duran running backwards as fast as he can, Josh Smith coming in from left. Duran calls off Smith - NONONO outfielder ALWAYS has right of way. Smith lets up - ball falls just beyond Smith.

Why is an infielder calling off an outfielder on a play like that? Just flat dumb. In the end, that's on the manager.

If the Rangers decide to hire a re-tread manager, I'd say try to lure Mike Sciosia out of retirement.

Mike Shildt is out there

For the record, I'm not advocating hiring Sciosia. But if they decide to hire somebody who had been a manager at the MLB level before, I'd much rather have him than Maddon or Washington at this point in time. Shildt is an interesting name as well...wonder what the "philosophical differences" were that got him run out of the Cardinals job.

Otto is infuriating at times. His arm side run is ridiculous and yet we continue to see arm side run. In regards to coaching search, I think they will turn over every stone in their search. Experienced or inexperienced, doesn't matter.

My first look/phone call would be to Tampa though. What the Rays consistently do with their roster is mind boggling. They have a good club house though, heavy analytics, and the "it" factor.

Yep, only gave up two hits, one of which was a dinger. I guess you call that "effectively wild". But he made it through 6IP.
