Green struck out a lot in HS. Over 20% of his plate appearances his senior year, even more than that before. Seems like a major flaw to have to look past and hope he won't spend a massive amount of time burning a path back to the dugout when he has to face actual professionals

If he's healthy....always a big "IF"....he's a top of the rotation talent.
Here was why I was thinking this might be the pick....this team needs pitching, and they need pitching that close to MLB ready. Rocker is the most MLB ready pitcher in the draft, with the highest upside. In a year where you don't have a 2nd or 3rd round pick, why not roll the dice.
Keep in mind the Rangers did a deep dive on both Rocker and Leiter last season. Both were scouted extensively, so there was a lot of familiarity there. That's why I thought it might happen.
Maybe I need to go to Vegas....

Started okay. Been struggling lately
I love this pick. If Rocker's medical is clean, that dude has a straight up power arm. I'd love to see a rotation in a couple years with Rocker, Leiter, and Owen White mowing dudes down.
Leiter had been pretty rough so far. Walking too many guys. His K rate is super high and the hits aren't outrageous. But he's gotta reel in the walks . 30 in 50 innings. But straight to AA is a big point to enter so I expected a slowish start
Leiter has electric stuff but is struggling with command. Nibbling too much maybe, adjusting to the professional strike zone. Nobody is worried about Leiter though.

Rocker's stats at Tri-City are impressive but he only has 20 innings so far.
With the players available, I'm happy with Rocker. High upside and a year ago we would've been thrilled with it. This team needs pitching the worst way and seems like the org is doing their best to address it.
If they could trade draft picks, I'd imagine they would have traded down to grab him later, but since that wasn't an option this makes sense.
