Yeah, I played year round and by my senior year I couldn't even turn a DP as a 2nd baseman because I could barely get the ball to 1st. Elbow and shoulder were absolutely done.

Baseball is unique in that for the sport to exist there has to be someone at all times doing something completely unnatural and unhealthy to the arm.

What are the chances we are looking for a new manager after this year or the next?

Won't happen this year I don't believe, but if they team struggles next year or if he's making bone-headed moves in games, I think it could happen either at the end of next season or possibly late in season.

I've posted it before and I still believe it: he's the Rangers Bo Porter and won't be here as soon as the team is ready to compete no matter what he does.

Pretty sure bet that Woodward is either gone or extended by the ASB next season, depending on where Texas is in the playoff hunt.

MLB pitchers have been being used less and less, and the TJ rates only continue to rise, because hint: youth baseball is the cause. And it will continue to get worse until entities like USA Baseball, Perfect Game, etc. come out and say no tournaments or showcases from the months of August-December. But if they do that they won't get your money, so it will never happen.

I coach high school football and baseball and last year we had two seniors who are both committed to play baseball at small colleges. They would've made great football players, and both like football, but they said they wanted to "focus" on baseball and not get hurt in football. So, what happens? One has an MCL go as he's rounding third base in the second game of the year. The other had TJ in November. They both feared getting hurt in football and they both got hurt in baseball and lost their senior years.

Multiply this by thousands and you have the current state of baseball. Kids getting awful advice led by scam select ball orgs stealing parents' money (there are a small percentage of very solid select ball orgs - don't get me wrong. But it is small.)

I agree with this, but I also think that too much emphasis on velocity is part of the problem as well. If up and coming kids and professional players as well would just pitch and not be so focused on the radar readings, I feel like arm and shoulder injuries would not be as prevalent. We need more pitchers like Greg Maddux, and not as many flame throwers with little command.

But colleges and pros aren't interested in you (for the most part) if you can't light up the radar gun. And now that the TJ surgery has a better success rate and fairly quick turn-around time, getting TJ surgery isn't as much of a deterrent either.

But I agree with you that select ball can be part of the problem too. Three kids, two in baseball and one was in softball, so I've seen all of the select baseball craziness. But if you want to see real craziness, go check out the select softball circuit.

Given what the plans are for this offseason, then there should be no excuse for the team to not be in position for a playoff spot next season.

I mean, can't really say "no excuse" -- we're going to have two teams in the division that will be significant favorites over us no matter what (realistic) moves we make this off-season.

Texas could improve by 15 wins next season and still wind up 3rd in the division.

The hope all along was that our window opening would be timed with the Astros window closing, but Seattle has stepped into that void.

Sooo, about those plans.... We going to buy a free agent pitcher or other significant acquisition?

Yes, the owners have said that they are going to go out this offseason and acquire more (trades or signings). Likely in the starting pitching department, maybe a corner outfielder. Also, I know it's only been a handful of games, But it looks like Aaron Zavala can really stick-it. He's been great since he was promoted to AA. Plus they have another 40 million coming off the books heading into next season.

Bubba Thompson called up, will start in left field. So two rookies making their debuts tonight (Ragans & Thompson).

As stated previously, I am in favor of any and all young prospects getting a go at it during the second half. The young core will either pull us closer in the division or fortify a better draft selection. There is basically no downside

Nice! I've been calling for both of these guys to get a look at the MLB level. Lets see what they can do and help decide if they might be able to contribute at this level in 2023.

Bubba Thompson is one of the guys who you hope can stick because he is an absolute athlete!

I'm all for prospects like Thompson & Ragans being called up, they've earned it.

I'm absolutely opposed to just randomly calling up guys because they're on a top prospects lists (Foscue), or calling up players who haven't really earned it (Steele Walker). Foscue isn't ready, and Walker never will be IMO. Waste of a roster spot and you get the clock ticking too early on their FA window.

I like Ragans so far. Pitches have good movement. Command has been iffy but some of that can be nerves of MLB Debut. Not much in the heart of the plate. Would like to see him attack more.

I actually quite like the way they are pitching the Sox. This lineup is really really good, so stay away. But it would be nice for him to execute 2-2 or 3-2 pitches more.
