The astros just pitch their ace 1a for game one, their ace 2a for game two, and their ace 3a for game three. Surprised more dont do this.
Not to be picky but if were saying they're Aces wouldn't it be 1A, 1B, 1C?

Don't forget Ace #4 as well.

Also, don't forget their closer is basically a starter because he has four pitches, and only starters have four pitches.

Its too bad the World Series Ace likely isn't going to pitch in the World Series this year.

Why don't teams ever pitch their worst pitcher in game 1. For example, concede game 1 by putting up your worst pitcher against Verlander and then the next several games your pitchers should be one notch better than the opponent.

Kind of like sacrificing your pawn for a rook?

Because even your #1's can lay a steaming #2 on the mound from time to time. See Verlander in the ALDS and LMJ in the ALCS.

I get Lance wasn't super sharp, but I wouldn't say he laid a steaming pile in the ALCS either. He kept us in it.

Maybe. An argument can easily be made.

If we rank the top 15 pitchers in the WS and I set the over-under of Astros at 11.5.

Yall taking the over or under?

I think that's about right. Nola and Wheeler obviously. Might give Hand and Alvarado the benefit of the doubt.

I'm not to worried about the Astros' offense an against their pitching. I think they'll handle it fine.

I am very, very curious how their offense handles the Astros' pitching. That's the series.

Hand is washed (pun intended). Their goto is Alvarado and Domnguez, and kinda Robertson. There is a reason they used Suarez to close out game 5.

Schwarber is real real bad.
Castellanos is one of the worst OFers.
Bohm ain't great.
Hoskins ain't either.
Stott ain't Pena. He's average, maybe.

On the flip side they don't have any elite guys to counter the poor play.

1. Cards
2. Mets
3. PHILLIES

I don't know. I don't follow the Phillies, I expect the experts here to break it down for me.

Phillies ranked 25th in the league in defensive runs saved at -34. That's a horrific number, even for really bad teams. They said to hell with defense and their plan is to beat you by mashing.

I am just continuing my personal war against errors.

Here is my post from a couple of days ago. They suck. We're the opposite of suck.

The Astros literally have 3 pitchers who would be #1 on the majority of teams (JV, Fram, LMJ), and we have 4 guys who could be #2 or #3 guys on most teams right now (Urq, Javier, Garcia, Brown)

We also have 3 setup guys (Stanek, Abreu, Montero) who would be the best reliever on most teams, or possibly their closer. And we still have an ace closer too.

I'm not sure we've ever seen this much pitching depth on one team.
