If you look at the last 5 years, the World Series Champions are the least favored or almost the least favored team by umpire score cards for all combined playoff games:

2021 ATL (-2.97) least favored calls by over 2 runs
2020 TB (-2.34) least favored calls by 1.3 runs
2019 Wash (-4.62) least favored calls by over 4 runs
2018 Bos (-5.08) least favored calls by almost 5 runs
2017 NYY (-1.88), Astros (-1.3)

I think it is human nature to start squeezing the dominant team and to start giving the dog a few borderline calls. These run aggregate scores are over the course of the entire post season, so most of them are 14-18 games cumulation for the WS Champions.

For this year's playoffs, Houston is currently +0.02 and PHI is +0.12. When we jump all over them, we will start seeing the PHI getting borderline calls IMO.

This includes World Series wins. That's actually an insane stat considering how long the Yankees have been around and that Houston has only been in the AL for less than a decade.

That would be a very Texans thing to do. They have a really uncanny ability to win one game a year where they are double-digit underdogs to a playoff-bound team.

Last year they beat the Titans when Houston was 1-8 and Tennessee was 8-2.
