Significantly less?

Judge has a higher career OBP. If you take Tony's best year and Judge's best year its .020. The same as the difference between Tuve & Breggy this year.

I like this stat.

There are 359 qualied pitchers this year.

The Astros have 3 guys in the top 15 in barrels per plate appearance. Montero (8th), Abreu (10th), & Stanek (15th).

One former Astros tops them all, Books Raley is sitting 4th behind Senor Trumpets himself.

If only that were the case with football.

Considering we will get smoked by 20+, I ain't stressing about Bama weekend.

More worried about the rest of the season after the Bama game. But luckily we will have the Astros to distract us

Something people don't often realize about Gwynn is that he didn't walk that much. Yes, he didn't strike out at all, but he also didn't walk a huge amount.

I'm not trying to say Gwynn wasn't great because he certainly was, but you do have to consider the total amount of bases a guy is producing and not just the sexy but not quite as important as it once was batting average.

Even in that era as was posted previously, Boggs was the better player. I didn't believe it either until I went to look at the numbers.

I got sucked into re-watching the Nolan Ryan 5th
no-hitter last night. The color guy mentions the no-no often starting in the 5th inning. Not sure when all the "jinx" stuff started but maybe all the cocaine made guys immune to it in the 80s?

Surely y'all don't really think a guy who covers the team for a living should withhold certain stats/info because he might jinx things... right?

All the way back in 1947, Yankees pitcher Bill Bevens had only one out remaining before completing the first no-hitter in World Series history. Red Barber, the Yankees' broadcaster, mentioned this imminent milestone, and the Dodgers immediately got a hit and went on to win the game.
This might have been when it started but no idea when broadcasters started to be coy about mentioning it. I know growing up in the late 70's and early 80's watching Ryan get to the 5th and further with a no hitter I knew not to say it out loud or my Dad would get onto me big time.

Stats are fine. But don't bring up "the Astros have been so healthy" right before playoffs start.

It's like when the tv guys say "this guy hasn't struck out in 5 games. What a streak" then he strikes out. Or "this kicker hasn't missed from less than 35 all season"

When you account for the long term major injuries to impact players like McCullers sand Brantley, and yordan with his hand issues, plus the time Verlander spent on the IL and odo getting carted off the field in Boston, not sure we've been all that healthy

Let me see if I can help...Christian Vazquez has not hit a homer for the Astros this year. He had 8 with Boston when they traded him and 23 homers as recently as the 2019 season. I repeat Vazquez has not hit a home run for the Astros.

I'm guessing its due to our path to getting there is alot easier than the Dodgers/Braves.

In a WS matchup with the Dodgers, I'd assume they'd be the favorite. Against anybody else I'd say vegas would have us favored (atlanta would be a toss up)

The guys in the booth were talking about it openly. Check out at 1:35 and 2:05.

I think it's a lot like some of these Aggie "traditions" where some dude decides that getting off the bleachers during an injury is somehow more respectful and next thing you know some redashhole is yelling at you to "get off the wood!!!" making the entire stadium super awkward.

The Braves look incredibly good right now. They were an absolute wrecking ball this weekend.

If I were an NL playoff team I'd want no part of that.
