Don't believe I have heard anywhere that its the same injury...just that its the same shoulder as he had operated on.

I haven't checked his #s but 2022 Thor probably isn't an upgrade. 2015-2018 Thor? Hell yes!

Urquidy being available means better than rental player return imo. Teams always looking for starting pitching and Urquidy has a good profile, experience, and age.

Also, from a risk perspective, do you want two pitchers in your rotation coming off Tommy John?

Maybe they can get a good trash can for Odorizzi?

It was shoulder inflammation with Brantley, right? I had that pretty bad in my right shoulder (albeit from lifting, not baseball) and it took a good 2-3 months of not benching for it to come down to a level where there wasn't constant pain when pushing again. It's an optimistic take, but I could see if it really is as simple as he needs to not swing a bat until it feels like the inflammation has subsided, then can get back up to speed quickly. Fingers crossed, anyway.

Odorizzi's blister game happened at an exceptionally bad time, might have been able to get somebody to take him having a few quality starts this season

Urquidy is making his 19th start of the year tonight. It's his 5th start vs Seattle. He's given up 16 runs in 19 innings vs Seattle this year. Seattle's career numbers vs him are hall of fame level

Looking at tonight's matchup, Dusty probably should have put Bregman back in the 2-hole. He is batting .429 vs Gilbert in 14 ABs

Talked to two people who believe at this point the Padres have made the best offer for Juan Soto. And it's not particularly close.

I would have said yes before the injury last year. Now Meyers is tentative and can't throw.

One buy low option I personally think the Astros should look at is Diamondbacks LH reliever Caleb Smith.

Smith fits what Houston typically looks for, with a 92nd percentile fastball spin rate.

He's controllable thru 2024 and is having a down year, meaning it wouldn't take a lot

That screams we're trading Urquidy plus more to get Byran Reynolds or Cedric Mullins.

With how close Baltimore is to competing no way they give up their CFer, right? They've have to really believe in say Pedro Leon to be that guy and see it as a way to replace Mullin with someone with more control plus get a rotation piece for the next several years.

Reynolds makes so much more sense. But if we're doing it, we have to figure out why he forgot how to hit a fastball. That is what stood out to me as to why he's "fallen off".



I think it's been proven time and time again the nerds in PIT aren't nerdy enough. Players seem to get better when they leave.
