He pitched 77 games last year.

65 regular season + 12 postseason, and as we all remember he was at his best during those last 12.

Look Dusty sucks and I'm glad we're off of the silly Yankee sweep honeymoon and back to acknowledging that. Kerry Wood & Mark Prior have every right to sue him for ruining their careers and I'm not defending Dusty's awful general MO, but Maton is 29 years old and I don't think there's anything wrong with him pitching 65-70 games this season as long as his results & his arm are holding up.

Right now our regular bullpen guys are all veterans around 30 y/o & scheduled to pitch under 70 innings. I don't love the way he's using them, but a seasoned major league reliever should be able to handle pitching 68 innings in a season. Dare to dream that we enter September with a big lead and he eases their workload to keep them fresh for the postseason.
