The A's announced attendance for both games of their doubleheader with Detroit today was a COMBINED 7,282.

Their home opener back in April drew 17,503 people.

Since then, they've played to (among others):

2,703 vs. Baltimore on April 21.
2,488 vs. Tampa on May 2
2,815 vs. Tampa on May 3
3,138 vs. MInnesota on May 16
3,640 vs. Minnesota on May 17
3,203 vs. Texas on May 26

Their largest home crowd of the year so far is 17,832 vs. the Red Sox on June 3, a Friday.

They need to become the San Antonio/New Braunfels A's.
Today, unfortunately, many Americans have good reason to fear that they will be victimized if they are unable to protect themselves. And today, no less than in 1791, the Second Amendment guarantees their right to do so. - Justice Samuel Alito 2022

I may be reading between the lines in what Boone said but it sure sounds like they have already surrendered the home field advantage in the playoffs.

Nah, he's just saying if they have to play us (which would of course require travel to Houston)

Well they play in the best division I'm baseball, we play in the worst, and after next weekend we are done playing the only decent team in ours.

So I like our chances

Quote:

There's been some push among Mariners fans on social media to ensure they're loud this weekend in an effort to make the Astros' lives miserable in the Pacific Northwest.

"They understand we don't give a fk right?," Astros pitcher Lance McCullers said of Mariners' fans big plans.
This was setting up to be a letdown. I'm glad Mariners fans are going to poke the bear.

They are working on becoming the Las Vegas A's. I think they are trying to do what the owner of the Indians did in Major League.

Dusty wouldn't start him over Siri. Fat chance in hell he'll start over Brantley vs lefties.

I am sure it's crossed click and others minds

Per usual, there were a ton of fans at the game last night. Guy right near us started the MVP chant on Judges 3rd AB and all of the Yankees fans near us joined in. After his 3rd K the entire section erupted. It was funny!

I also had Yankees fan that was over the top obnoxious (aren't they all?) in front of me. sometime around the 4th or 5th inning he had his phone out and googled "yankees"… his phone wouldn't load it and I wasn't trying to creep that hard but I thought it was hilarious.

Some dude on MLB network just proposed a trade wherein the Angels send Ohtani to Toronto for their top 3 prospects and a major league starter. Must be a slow news day to be suggesting something crazy like that. The fans would murder the Angels owner.

Finally home. Damn what a long and glorious day at the park. It was worth the CF MMP put on between games. Dunno if I'll ever get to see the Stros beat the Yanks twice in a day in person again in my life.

Just think, you could have easily stayed home to read multiple pages in this thread of why Dusty sucks… on a day when the Astros swept the Yankees.

I felt like I got to experience TexAgs at the juice box though. Lady next to us in the 9th when she saw Bielak come out started *****ing and when when Judge came up she said "see he's going to hit a HR now" and after he did she let us all know she told us so, and that there is no way we are going to win the game because of Dusty leaving him in, even after Montero came in.
Sounds like someone I know lol Where were you sitting?

It may sound ridiculous, but they should unload Trout, Ohtani, & make someone take Rendon. And while you're at it, trade Iglesias. They have no shot of winning. Their nonexistent window is closing. After 2023 it's no Ohtani and their highest-paid players will be 32 and 34 with 361 M still owed to those 2 alone. Get out of it now. The prospect haul from those 3 with Rendon as a negative would be enough to kickstart rebuild. Lose 100 games in 23 and 24 then start trying to win in 2025/26. That is when you should start opening up the pocket book again.

I didnt make it to the late game but I went to the matinee and they were obnoxious out in right field. It was all in good fun though, no fights or near fights. One Yankee fan in a Jeter jersey kept yelling about the number of rings they have. Guess clinging to the past is second nature for them at this point

To get the best haul on Prospects, you would most likely have to eat some of the contract in the deal. Would still be worth it.

Obviously this was said somewhat in jest, but the grander point remains that they need a total overhaul of their baseball ops staff in addition to reconstructing their roster.

I wonder how much of the lineups, platoons, etc. come from Dusty and how much from the front office.

I can see where as a manager you would want to give Siri all the chances you can, thinking he's got the tools to be a modern day Eric Davis. I think he's all sizzle and no steak and I would limit him to PR & Def. sub but what do I know?

Are there some advanced stats that tell us Siri is actually good offensively? I think about Raley and although he's still a 34 y/o with a negative career WAR, I hate to lose another argument to Farmer, but he obviously does not suck.

Plus the fact Luhnow is done in baseball.

Isn't he off somewhere in Latin America owning and running a soccer team?

I don't think any organization would touch him.

The Angels have not spent a single day in first place in August or September since 2013.

I've been saying something similar for years. Put a team in San Marcos to capture both Austin and San Antonio people. Should be able to get cheap land in the area and then get college students to work it,

For his career, he's a .304/.360/.739 batter in the leadoff spot (7-23, 2 HR)
