If we sweep and go 2.5 back, I'll be very surprised if we don't end up with the best record in the AL.
If we split and stay 4.5 back, I still like our chances.
If we lose both and go 6.5 back, that will be a tough hill to climb.
Yankees have 53 games left against teams with playoff aspirations (ie teams over .500). We've got 42. Making life more difficult for the Yankees is the emergence of the Orioles.
Yankees have 32 homes games left. We have 40. We definitely have the advantage from here to the house.
My prediction is that we tread water for a bit after the break. Our schedule from now through mid August is tough. Starting with the homestand against the Twins on August 23, I think that's when we turn on the afterburners and hunt them down.
