I have a feeling that H Brown is going to headline a package to the Reds for Castillo.
1) Wanna beat us in a seven game series? You're gonna have to face JV, Castillo and Framber six times (with LMJ possibly starting the other one). Gimme.
2) Any rotation uncertainty for 2023 is immediately resolved. We'll have the best rotation in baseball regardless of what happens with JV this winter. If we retain JV, we'll have a staff just as good as (if not better than) the 2018 one.
3) Cherry on top: Yankee fan tears would be sooooo glorious if we outbid them for another ace.

Yes on Urquidy but Luis and Javier are legit contributing arms with playoff experience.
Brown is a prospect at this point.
I would not mind one bit if Urquidy is packaged but I don't see many teams being terribly high on him.

I think Urquidy is the most likely to go since he is the closest to having no options left and has the most service time. That tends to be the philosophy when trading major league guys who have yet to hit free agency. If you have to trade from a position of strength, trade someone with the least amount of control remaining.Ag_07 said:

If the Reds called and said Castillo is yours if you're willing to part with Brown + some marginal prospects, do you do it?
I guess I'm to the point where I'd strongly consider. Agree that I'd rather see Urquidy dealt than Brown. I'd have to think about LuAce. To me, Javier's playoff flexibility (ability to start, bridge and even multi-inning close) makes him a bit too valuable to include in a Castillo deal.
