I talked to someone who works for the Astros recently and asked about these pitching machines and was told the Astros installed 2 about a month ago. I wasn't told directly what kind, but from the description it sounds like the more advanced one mentioned in the article that only 7 or 8 teams were supposedly using or had machines ordered. Not every player is apparently a fan, but Bregman was mentioned as one who supposedly is very into it.

Not saying that corresponds to recent success any more than a probable regression to the mean, but I think it's an interesting note.

Astros magic number to clinch division is only 74 games with 85 to play. Who else thinks they'll clinch before September 1st?
