I agree with the sentiment as Pres clearly didn't have his stuff. However, after seeing that Dusty still gave him 2 (or 3?) more batters. And yes Stanek had the walk as well. He has to attack and throw strikes and make DJ beat you with the guy on 1st. That didn't happen so we we have Judge and runners on 1st and 2nd and he immediately gets to 3-0. At that point Dusty elects to pitch to him rather than putting him on. Not just a hindsight 20-20 thing here that is just a stupid decision all around.Beat40 said:RED AG 98 said:

Season has a long way to go, but this game has a momentum change feel to it. Need the bats to stay hot and move Pressly into the 8th inning role ASAP. Find a real closer and do closer by committee until that happens.

I didn't say "go to hell". Every season has momentum swings. My point was we need to keep hitting and get momentum back. But I do firmly believe RP is not a closer. Hell of an 8th inning man for sure.

No, I'm just saying the Yankees have the momentum now. Not hard to see that after a deflating loss. Need to bounce back and regain momentum. If you thought I meant our season was doomed after today then I'm sorry, didn't mean for it to come across that way. But it's obvious Yankees are going to be riding a high after tonight.

I've been going back and forth on posting this thought, because at the end of the day we still lost. However, we shouldn't let Pressly's meltdown completely tarnish the fact that those a-holes only had 2 hits for 8+ innings.

I'm really glad the people in this thread don't run our ball club. Or run any organization I work for. Tonight was tough, but damn.
Thank you for bringing some sanity to this thread. Up 10 games and it's almost to the point I don't want to follow along on this thread after 8 years.
Tough loss to say the least. They responded well to a very similar one a couple weeks ago, so I hope they'll do the same tomorrow.
If I'm in the minority here I will own it, but do we not want a more traditional closer? Maybe there is no one available, but I just personally (long before today) have wanted RP to be in the set up role. More of the Brad Lidge setting up Wagner type of deal.
