Two top prospects or Javier and a prospect would be my guess.

July 30: Giants acquire 3B/OF Kris Bryant from Cubs for OF Alexander Canario and RHP Caleb Kilian

After watching the rival Dodgers pick up Max Scherzer and Trea Turner from the Nationals, the Giants made a blockbuster trade of their own for Bryant, a four-time All-Star and former MVP. Eligible for free agency after 2021, the 29-year-old could help the Giants in a number of areas after showing increased versatility with the Cubs this season. The Giants are currently missing both starting corner infielders, third baseman Evan Longoria and first baseman Brandon Belt.

To get Bryant, San Francisco sent its Nos. 9 (Canario) and 30 (Kilian) prospects, according to MLB Pipeline, to Chicago.

July 30: Braves acquire OF Adam Duvall from Marlins for C Alex Jackson
In need of outfielders with Ronald Acuña Jr. out for the season due to a torn ACL, the Braves made a deal with Miami to bring Duvall back to Atlanta. Duvall produced 26 homers with an .852 OPS for the Braves across 98 games in 2019-20, and he's slugged 22 more home runs for Miami in 2021. Duvall is the third outfielder the Braves have acquired since Acuña's injury joining Joc Pederson and Eddie Rosario on Atlanta's roster. The 32-year-old Duvall is on a one-year, $5 million deal with a 2022 mutual option.

Going back to the Marlins in the trade is Jackson, the No. 6 overall Draft pick in 2014 and a former top prospect. More >

July 29: Red Sox acquire OF Kyle Schwarber from Nationals for RHP Aldo Ramirez

Following the blockbuster deal in which their archrivals, the Yankees, landed slugging first baseman Anthony Rizzo from the Cubs, the Red Sox countered with a move to secure a slugger of their own in Schwarber, who went on an incredible run during which he launched 16 home runs in 18 games for Washington from June 12-29 before injuring his hamstring. Overall, Schwarber is hitting .253/.340/.570 with 25 homers in 72 games this season.

Ramirez, who was Boston's No. 19 prospect per MLB Pipeline, posted a 2.03 ERA over eight starts for Class A Salem this season.

A couple of the trades done for position players with expiring contracts last year for reference

Is Javier plus one of Chas /Siri possible?

I don't pretend to know how teams value prospects or relief pitchers

if you are up late and want a game to watch, Angels and Red Sox are tied in the 8th

Angels survive the top of the ninth to keep it tied. Angels get the chance to win it in the bottom of the 9th

I'm saying it now. Valdez will be a trade piece to get a big reliever. Hopefully packaged with a few young 40 man arms to clear some clutter

Thats one possibility. I'd like to see where he can play. 3B would add a lot of flexibility but he could also be your Uncle Mike replacement in LF.

At the moment, I don't think so. Diaz is a free agent after this season and Valdez probably gets a shot at replacing him.

Carlos will end up playing 60-70% of his team's games and crush it in in the postseason. No one knows that better than us.

Is that worth $35M and drama every offseason? It's crazy that I'm not 100% sure that the answer is "no"!

To add to the angels woes, trout left the game with groin tightness.

I'll be honest I'm surprised he lasted this long before he got hurt

Usually about right for him.

Go down before the ASB and still get voted as a starter, come back late in the season, then shut it down before it ends, and still win the MVP.

Like clockwork

Always worth repeating....the Angels are simply the late-90s Orioles_2.0; so much bad money spent, so many injuries and so many wasted careers.

Funny enough... I would much rather face Twins/Red Sox than whatever draw the Yankees would get in that scenario.

If that's how it ends up I think we got the easier side compared to NYY. And the Mets get the easier side compared to LA.
