So the Astros had to deal with Pujols from 2001-2011 in the NL Central.

He goes to the Angels in 2012 and we have a year without him.

Then we get crammed into the AL West with him from 2013-2021.

Finally he goes back to the NL. Will Manfred put us back in the NL Central in 2023?



If he could somehow stay healthy, he's only 21 HR short of 700 and 29 doubles short of 700. Obviously dropped off a ton since 2017 or so, but man his all-time #s are unreal.

Games played: 12th at 2,971. If he plays 111 games this year, he'll move up to 4th, trailing only Rose, Yaz, and Hank Aaron.

At-bats: 8th at 11,114. If he gets 438 this year, he'll move up to 4th, trailing those same three.

Runs scored: 14th at 1,872: If he gets 46, he'll move up to 12th. He would need 78 to reach the top 10 with Stan Musial at 1949.

Hits: 12th at 3,301. Needs 14 to tie Eddie Collins and 18 to tie Paul Molitor for 10th. Needs 119 to catch Yaz for 9th, 120 to catch Honus Wagner for 8th, and 136 to reach Cap Anson at 7th.

Total Bases: 4th with 6,042. He needs 39 to pass Willie Mays for 3rd and 91 to pass Stan Musial for second. he won't catch Aaron, who leads with 6,856.

Doubles: 5th at 672. Might get to 700 at some point, but the next rung up is Ty Cobb at 724.

Home Runs: 5th at 679. A-Rod is 4th at 696.

RBI: 3rd at 2,150. He's 64 behind Babe Ruth for 2nd and 147 behind Aaron for first.

I wonder how many teams have toyed with walking Ohtani intentionally to lead off an inning so he has to be on the bases for long stretches of time and then not be as effective as a pitcher?
