I'd be curious to know how much of that was racked up in the couple 13-run games and the 10-run one, not the many where they've scored 0, 0, 1, 1, 2, and 0, which is 90+% of their losses.

that would also be 90% of every team's losses.

Besides, if you throw out the double digit scores (of which there are 5 or 6) you also have to throw out the 5 or 6 lowest games.

Well actually 16 out of 19 of the losses (19 losses is 3rd fewest in the league by the way) so far this year are with 0, 1 or 2 runs scored by the offense… or 84%…

That's a fair point. Mostly what I'm saying is, you can't blame the pitching for any but about two losses this year. It's clear what the problem is. It isn't "a beating" to say so. Yuli has left the population of Missouri on base. (And Dusty keeps. batting. him. fifth.) Bregman is just hoping to walk. Tucker has now had multiple slumps. Brantley is a weak ground ball machine most times. This is all just your guys you expect to produce, before you even get to CF or C.

If this team doesn't hit homers or throw a shutout, they lose. They've been fortunate to have done both of those at an above-average pace. But that catch up to them in the playoffs. Something needs to change. At some point you'd expect some positive regression to the mean from these bats but they're almost 60 games in.

If he can play outfield, it accelerates his path to the majors because it's a way to potentially carry three catchers. Stubbs and Gattis played corner outfield too. Seems like something they like to do with catchers.

What has been said above about a quicker path as well as career longevity and ways to play more than 120 games a year.

Buster Posey & Sal Perez both play some 1b despite being GG catchers as a way to get their bat in the game and give their knees some rest. Perez if he doesn't fall off a cliff with the bat is a guy I can see playing more 1b as he ages out of catcher.

Lee might be a good enough hitter to end up in that category. Little premature to make HOF comparisons, but if he's a good enough hitter he might even end up like Biggio or Bryce Harper, where they would prefer for him to have a longer healthier career in the outfield.

I do realize we're talking about a career MiLB .738 OPS guy… but as bad as our fourth OF situation has been over the last few years he might be an improvement.

I wouldn't read too much into Lee playing LF. We're always trying guys at different positions in the minors and see if we can manufacture some flexibility/depth. He'll be a catcher when he gets up.

Wonder if somebody from the FO finally got in Dusty's face to explain what Yuli's LOB numbers mean.

Dusty strikes me as the type who does not give a single eff what the front office wants him to do.

All the anger directed at Yuli (and he deserves his share no doubt) and yet Siri gets a pass. And by every objective measure he is worse. Yet Dusty keeps trotting him out in CF in spite of having a clearly better offensive option.

What happens if a team is down 10-4, brings in a position player, and then his team scores 5 runs? Does the position player have to come out?

Also, in regards to both, just looking around the league, at least they aren't as bad as someone like Adam Duvall, who has even worse numbers than both, and is doing it in more ABs. .192/.255/.286 with 63 Ks.

edit: the main issue with Yuli is where Dusty keeps putting him in the lineup. Maybe today is the start of him fixing that.
