Cool story bro warning. In 2005 the Astros were 15-30 and 16 games out of first. They offered a mini-season ticket package that was 10 games for $20, but it was for the worst 10 games left on the schedule (i.e. Tuesday night games vs. non-marquee teams).

A good friend buys 4 packages for $80 solely b/c it also came with the rights to buy playoff tickets before they went on sale to the general public. Epic season turnaround, and he gets to buy 4 tickets to every playoff game. Although he was only supposed to be able to buy 4, he ended up buying 12 b/c the ticket system didn't restrict him from doing so.

I loaned him some money to get the last 4 so he gave me a ticket to every game for free, sold some to friends for face value and sold others on the secondary market for enough to pay for most of the engagement ring he bought his now wife. I don't think she knows the backstory to this day.
