I know It's been discussed but seriously wtf was MLB thinking making us play 33 games in 34 days

He was taunting the pitcher. The batter got a 2 game suspension and the pitcher got 4 games. Every player on the bench or dugout who came on the field for the hitting team got a two game suspension and the league said if that means they can't field a team they must forfeit
"There will never be a pitcher like #NolanRyan and if you had to sum up his singularity in one sentence, it would be this: He made every single pitch count." - @MLB

Pitcher should be suspended for the rest of the season IMO.
I didn't say he should be banned for life. I said he should be arrested. Words are wind and gone in an instant. The pitcher went as hard as he could with the intent to hurt him.Keeper of The Spirits said:
Take that attitude to the Arlington thread and banned for life? 4 games might be a little light but then my guess
Is the batters words were part equation. That was way safer and more fair than tossing high heat at his melon. The guy walked home and scored unhurt. Sports in one of the few places on earth where to still have to stand behind your words. Let's not change that! The punch in the Boston minor league game was far more ferocious.
Assaulting someone on a baseball field isn't "making someone stand behind their words". And it wasn't even more fair than throwing at his head. You're at least prepared for a pitch coming in that situation. No one's expecting to get blindsided by a 230 lb guy running full speed while they're rounding the bases. The pitcher was a little ***** and he showed it.Keeper of The Spirits said:

Wanna feel old? Henry Rowengartner threw out tonight’s first pitch. He’s now 42 years old @barstoolchicago pic.twitter.com/OZT8VW3gjU

The pitcher didn't give him an opportunity to back it up. He just blindsided him like a little ***** while the guy was running the bases. Trash talking is part of the game. Pitcher needs to grow up.RO519 said:
Pressing charges after running your mouth... That's pretty weak guys.
I don't agree with how the pitcher handled it, but the batter isn't free of blame. He clearly said something that crossed a line. If you're going to run your mouth, you better be ready to back it up.
Because some people are soft and react like neanderthals whenever they get their feelings hurt.Coby said:
Honest question: why is physical violence a socially accepted response to somebody who says something insulting?
It's a pretty normal expectation. "Talk sh**, get hit." But I've honestly always wondered why it's socially acceptable to meet words with violence instead of more words.
Why is saying something insulting socially accepted to somebody who is doing something that doesn't affect you?Coby said:

In cases like what happened to Tyson on the plane where you cannot get away from the person antagonizing you and refusing to leave you alone, I think violence is sometimes the only logical answer.Coby said:

What if the pitcher talked first which he probably didRO519 said:
Batter needs to grow up and not run his mouth. Trot around the bases, score your run and sit down. Right? That is one of the unwritten rules of baseball isn't it?
Would you have rather seen the pitcher throw at the next batter?
We playing the what if game now? What if the pitched tripped and was falling and ran into the batter?astros4545 said:What if the pitcher talked first which he probably didRO519 said:
