Veteran agent says the market is zooming -- he's already heard about 6-8 deals agreed to.
— Buster Olney (@Buster_ESPN) March 11, 2022
Early sense in the market is that teams are generally focused on pitching and trades.
— Buster Olney (@Buster_ESPN) March 11, 2022
Per sources, three teams have expressed interest in Albert Pujols. The addition of the DH to the National League has seemingly widened the market for the future Hall of Famer.

For what it's worth, I've heard this has been in the works for a bit regardless of if he stayed with the Astros or not.

Left-handed starter Carlos Rodón and the San Francisco Giants are in agreement on a two-year, $44 million contract that includes an opt-out after the first season, sources familiar with the deal tell ESPN.

Major news. No one has ever called more World Series Games than Buck. It’s the first time since Al Michaels in 1995 that someone else will do it. Incredible Run. https://t.co/ZR85Fh8NN1

To hell with free agency...this is the best news ever. No more Joe Buck on MLB games.
He's already bought something bigger and better. He bought a larger house in Memorial a few years ago, if I'm not mistaken. Think they tore it down and are going to build.CFTXAG10 said:

Interesting note on Justin Verlander's deal w/the Astros, which was done before the lockout: The deal only guarantees Verlander $25M in 2022, per source. If he reaches 130 IP this season, a $25M player option for 2023 is triggered. If he doesn't, it's simply a one-year deal.

The Astros will open Grapefruit League play on Friday March 18 against the Cardinals at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter. Their first game at Ballpark of the Palm Beaches is on the 20th against the Nats.

I think that's what it'll be. Possibly Framber if LMJ and JV aren't 100% for it

The Kris Bryant-to-Seattle chatter resumed in the baseball industry today. Jerry Dipoto told reporters earlier that he’s looking to add an “impact bat” who fits at 3B, LF and/or DH . . . Making any nominations, Mariners fans? 😉 @SEASports710 @MLBNetwork @MLB

A little overpaid maybe but a short term deal for us. Above post was wrong. Just one year left. Three time gold glover and a 10 HR/15 SB kind of guy. Main point is he is way more proven than the guys we have for CF right now. This combined with some other moves could make sense. By itself, I agree doesn't seem like a big deal.Farmer1906 said:Taxman90 said:MLB trade rumors had an article about a month ago that implied the Rays would pretty much give him away if a team took on all of the contract. No way we give the money to get Bryant. It'll be more of the corner guys I mentioned before - Peterson, Soler, Conforto, etc. shorter term guys who aren't going to demand 4-5 years.
Why would we want him? He's overpaid is has very little upside offensively.
Because the track record of guys in the first year back after TJ is not good at all. If anyone can do it, it would be JV though.Farmer1906 said:tjack16 said:W said:are we expecting JV vs. Ohtani on opening night?EastCoastAgNc said:Interesting note on Justin Verlander's deal w/the Astros, which was done before the lockout: The deal only guarantees Verlander $25M in 2022, per source. Why wouldnt he be 100%. His injury is almost 2 years old.
