Source: Prior to lockout, #Braves had detailed conversations with free agent Justin Verlander. He ultimately returned to Houston, but this indicates that the Braves are trying to fit a high-level starter *and* Freddie Freeman into their budget. @MLBNetwork @MLB

Mets are calculated to be $9-10M under 4th tier threshold of $290M. They seek a starter and hitter, and if they sign both are likely to exceed $290M. Owner Steve Cohen isn’t going to complain and may go over, but some Mets people saw a target on his back.

If you are not vaccinated, visiting MLB players can not play in Toronto under the current restrictions, per @ShiDavidi and @bnicholsonsmith https://t.co/RsZK5Kk27N

Well this is gonna be a mess...
Can you imagine if that's still in place come time for the playoffs, and they make it? Talk about a serious home field advantage.Farmer1906 said:EastCoastAgNc said:If you are not vaccinated, visiting MLB players can not play in Toronto under the current restrictions, per @ShiDavidi and @bnicholsonsmith https://t.co/RsZK5Kk27N

Make Toronto play in Florida again. Don't give in to this Canadian BS.
Some details emerging on how the expanded playoffs will work:
— Jayson Stark (@jaysonst) March 10, 2022
* No more Game 163 tiebreakers. All playoff spots will be determined through NFL-type tiebreaker formulas.
* No re-seeding for the LDS. 1st seed plays winner of 4 vs. 5 Wild Card Series. 2nd seed plays 3 vs 6 winner.

Won't be seeing Kyrie Irving playing shortstop anytime soon.EastCoastAgNc said:If you are not vaccinated, visiting MLB players can not play in Toronto under the current restrictions, per @ShiDavidi and @bnicholsonsmith https://t.co/RsZK5Kk27N

There is a possibility that the Astros could sign a big bat corner outfielder and move Kyle Tucker to center field.

As a player once described Tucker’s ability to me and the possibility of starting in center, he said: “Tucker can do whatever he wants, he’s a stud”
My wife would be a fan of this move...linkdude said:

I think Kyle would be fine in CF with an entire spring training there, it was throwing him out there mid season that made him look badEastCoastAgNc said:There is a possibility that the Astros could sign a big bat corner outfielder and move Kyle Tucker to center field.

I'm with you...my wife just randomly dropped his name a few months ago when I was quizzing her if she could even name a player not on the Astros, her first cheating answer was Springer...I was like wtf?Ag_07 said:Lonestar_Ag09 said:My wife would be a fan of this move...linkdude said:

I would be a fan of this move probably not for the same reasons.
Bryant would be a great add
FYI, the #Orioles and #Pirates will play teams in both the Tampa and Fort Myers pods.

I wonder what it would take to trade for Keirmeyer...he's under contract for 2 more years ($12.5M AAV).Farmer1906 said:
No way we give the money to get Bryant. It'll be more of the corner guys I mentioned before - Peterson, Soler, Conforto, etc. shorter term guys who aren't going to demand 4-5 years.
Would also help us maintain our 'cheating' mantra if we got KeirmaeirEastCoastAgNc said:I wonder what it would take to trade for Keirmeyer...he's under contract for 2 more years ($12.5M AAV).Farmer1906 said:

Yuli and Brantley are 2 that I'm sure will have a "mutual parting of ways" with the Astros. Both are nearing the end of their careers.agproducer said:
I know we are focused on the upcoming season and signings, but looking ahead, Yuli, Brantley, Pressley, Diaz and Castro are FAs.
These signings need to take that into account.
If they sign Correa this year or another SS, they should give Pena a look as a possible Brantley replacement. Play Pena at Sugar Land in OF, so he could take the spot in 2023. 1B would be a question mark next year. If they don't sign CC, sign a corner OF this year who can play 1B next year. Yuli's decline is coming. I don't see them resigning Yuli.
Lee will be with the MLB club next year. So, no worries on Castro. We may also need a replacement for Pressley.
That being said, if you can't get Correa or Story, sign Bryant and roll with Pena and Diaz at short. Then, at the deadline, if that isn't working, see where you can upgrade.
MLB trade rumors had an article about a month ago that implied the Rays would pretty much give him away if a team took on all of the contract. It should be an option even though he always misses time with injuries.EastCoastAgNc said:I wonder what it would take to trade for Keirmeyer...he's under contract for 2 more years ($12.5M AAV).Farmer1906 said:
