Yes. After watching the circus between MLB and MLBPA in 2020, I have full confidence there will be a strike/lockout, and a long one at that. We'll get to see the "how long will the season be" circus play out yet again.

I realize you are referring to the fans but it can be an issue for the brass as well. If they do want to pursue him, how long do they wait? We have money to spend and don't want to miss out on other options.

Totally different situation and unions. Watson can ask for a trade to only one team that he wants and the Texans could sit on it force him to retire. He's in no position to negotiate anything and sorry ass Texans don't have to do anything unless it benefits them.

I almost wish they'd put some performance bonuses out there for him to make more in one of his final years to play. I know he signed the deal after a subpar year, but man did he kill it this year.

I think he can make an extra million or so with enough plate appearances.

For a guy who came into the league so old, he's still going to end up with around 60 M warned for his career. Not too shabby.

You're right. Getting $8mil with these:
$250,000 each for 300, 350 plate appearances
$350,000 each for 400, 450 plate appearances
$400,000 each for 500, 550 plate appearances

Not bad. That's actually $2 million extra if he gets 550 plate appearances

This is, of course, assuming he stays healthy. And somewhere in there you have to figure there will be a transition to 3B or 1B as he ages and slows.

Have had some time to cool down since Tuesday and have been thinking about Correa.

I don't want this clubhouse to break the bank for him. His last tipped bat where he jogged to 1st pissed me off. Had he hustled he would have made it on base.

We'll be fine without him. Let him walk.

I guess we'll see what he gets but I'm sure we aren't going to give him a stupid money deal. I think our max would be 150-200M, slightly more than what Altuve got.

Plenty of other SS free agents that, while not as good, won't be an albatross of a contract that prevents us from making other more necessary moves

especially if the new CBA does not shorten the service time required for free agency

looking at Spotrac and seeing his $30 MM salary for 2023 and 2024...woof...can't be paying that much for .775 OPS.

It comes down to what the club feels about Pena. They might need him to be the SS of the future to save money to pay Tucker, Alvarez and a top line starting pitcher. Wouldn't surprise me if they roll with Diaz or another vet with a 1-2 year deal at SS.
