Was it Rasmus or Reddick that agreed to a QO when it wasn't expected?

Got a non baseball question and did not know where to ask. Figured we have enough people here that someone may have some info.

Has anyone delivered for door dash or uber eats? Trying to get an idea of the pay per delivery and how that worked. What was the typical radius that you worked and such. Some of my restaurants are looking to partner up and just looking for information.

Rasmus

Think he was the first player to ever accept a QO.

Talked to a coworker who was emphatic that Correa is worth the chee$e because a young stud short stop won't be seasoned enough to bat in the tough games and the playoffs.

Ahem…..

I mean, Carlos wasn't great during the WS, but he certainly wasn't alone. He was way better than Yordan and had more rbi than Tucker.

I e heard it mentioned often about Bregman sliding over. I don't think that has ever been in the cards. He was not drafted as a SS. He only played there because CC was injured. He's gotten less mobile not more. And probably most importantly his throws are very questionable at times and he goes out of his way to throw on the run because he throws better that way….how many plays does a SS make throwing on the run, great majority of throws are deep in the 5/6 and 4/6 hole and going away from first not towards it.

Leave him at third and use Pena/Leon

Yep

Bregman at SS is a bottom 1/3 of the league shortstop i would think quite easily

I think I'm going to miss CC's arm over his bat. That Correa Cannon got the Astros out of so many jams.

He's a .270 hitter/20-25HR but probably best SS arm in the majors so I'd agree.

Agreed. I don't see Bregman as a true everyday option at SS. But if it's considered, he needs to know soon cuz he'll have to adjust his offseason S&C program to lose some bulk and focus on his agility/range.

Regarding Correa, the link on one of the earlier pages with the top FA predicted CC would get 8/264. I know it's said he's gone, but I'd be on board with that type of deal.
if Correa will take an 8-year deal, good chance he stays with the Astros

Offer Carlos 3 year $120M. He'd have the final 3 years of the core Astros/Altuve era, and would be 30 for the next contract and plenty young for teams to make a stupid 10 year deal at that time.
If winning is a part of the equation, he might do that. If it's highest bidder for most years, no matter what, he gone.

I have a better chance of winning the lotto tonight than CC taking a 3 year deal. I will be shocked if its anything less than 8 years

I don't see him taking anything less than a 10 year contract. Some team will offer 12+ years.

He's 27, not 25 like tejada or Harper
10 years is the longest he will get

I said it in the other thread, but I'll say it here too. He's gone. He's already told the organization he's moving on. This is from a friend of mine who is very much in the know.

The Reds are already talking about slashing payroll so our old friend Luis Castillo may be available. Our farm system isn't great though so likely have to include at least one of Javier, Garcia or Urquidy.

I have a better chance at banging Kate Upton.

Think about it...Why would he ever do something like that when some other team will offer twice the money and twice the years.

He's not leaving $150mm and 6+ years on the table. That doesn't make any sense.

I guess I don't understand the logic of that. He's not even going to listen to offers now? Why would he refuse to do that? And free agents like bidders. That's how you create leverage with other teams. It makes on sense on any level that he would tell them this.
MaxPower
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Why would the Astros want to bid if they know they are just pawns to squeeze more money elsewhere?

CC knows (and his agent most likely told him) that there is no way Houston is going to match offers he'll get from other teams. The idea of CC giving Houston some kind of "loyalty discount" is really dumb. He is going to go to the highest bidder, and honestly I don't blame him for it - I think any of us would do the same thing.

No one is arguing that.

What doesn't make sense is him already eliminating a bidder. While yes it's unlikely Crane can match anyone else it doesn't make logical or business sense for him to not listen to their best and final offer.

I've already accepted that he's gone because we aren't paying that much but I have a hard time accepting that he's already told them no thanks without hearing a final offer.

i think cc also wants to play baseball in october, not golf. doubt he goes somewhere he has no chance of winning

Agreed. The time for a loyalty discount was last offseason. Now that you've had him wait til free agency he'd be a fool not to get teams bidding to drive up the price. The best you can hope for is a few percent discount due to tax savings being in Texas.

Suddenly injury prone?… is this a troll?
Not a troll, I've seen it happen across all sports. Up and coming superstar gets massive contract and then they are hurt all of a sudden more often than not.

While I agree he wants to win, it's possible he can be sold on a long-term vision. The Tigers, Orioles and Rangers are terrible now but they have great farm systems. I could see them selling him on a vision of a great 5 year run in a year or two with either org and him embracing that challenge. The very fact they would be willing to offer him the most money shows they are willing to spend.

On Correa, he was very candid in a spanish interview with La Garata podcast and stated the following:
  • Correa is looking for a "big, long contract." 6 years is not going to get it done.
  • Correa doesn't believe Crane will commit to a long term contract.
  • Correa felt disrespected by the Astros offers (5 years for $125M, and 6 years for $120M).
  • Other teams have said they are "all in" for Correa.
  • Correa isn't only concerned about the number and years, he factors in location, state and federal taxes, his agent's cut, and whether the offering team is a winning organization. "If you sign, say, for 350 in Los Angeles and you have 35-37 percent of the federal tax and you have 13 percent of the state tax, you're gonna have five percent to your agent, you're going to spare the extra 160 and change. If I go for 270 in Houston, you have federal taxes, you don't have state tax, it's zero and it's saving you 13 percent. Well, you're going to have a lot more in Houston. What's it matter to say 'I have a bigger contract.' No, you want them to give you more, you don't want to just be a number there that is the biggest contract, you want to keep as much as possible."

He is basically telling Crane what he wants to see in an offer to stay in that interview. 6 years for $120M is a joke of an offer and I don't blame Carlos at all for being upset at Crane for that. 8 years for $270M is Carlos' number I think.

Anybody have any thoughts on how the Astros are gonna handle Altuve once his contract is up? I'd love for him to be a lifetime Astros like Biggio / Bagwell were, but I get the feeling the ownership / GM don't view guys like that anymore. Plus, with the way a lot of the contracts / arbitration timelines (based on current CBA) line up, seems like 2024 is the next big point of turnover. I hope they keep him, I can't imagine him in another uniform.

If 2024 is the next big turnover point, 8/270 wouldn't be a terrible idea because you'd have a leadership guy to help bring along whoever the next round of new guys are. He can slot over to 3rd once Bregman's contract runs out. I still don't think it'll happen.

Based on how prominent Bigg and Bags are MMP right now, I'd say Crane would give every effort to make Altuve a lifetime employee if that's what Jose wants. He's this generation's Jose Cruz - beloved by everyone, worshipped by the Hispanic community, a modest guy with a family that isn't out doing dumb stuff and getting in trouble off the field. Cheo wound up with the Yankees for half a season, but was the Astros' first base coach for 13 years and is still employed as a special assistant
