so according to Spotrac...the Astros are about $40 MM under the luxury tax at the moment.

Go get Pillar as a stop gap in center until Leon is ready. I'm not sold on Conforto and moving Tuck to CF. I don't think Chas is the answer. Brinson my be fine if he can hit.

Get relief help.

Did he? You may want to double check that.

MLB trade rumors and other sites still show Pillar as available.

If they sit pat, just get relief help. Roll with what you got, then see what's available at deadline.

I highly doubt that ghosting story is true. That feels like Michael Schwab has been pretty wrong about this whole thing. He was the one talking about how Carlos was close to a deal with us about 5 days ago and he's been fueling the fire.

Also, I don't even know what credentials he has if any to get information like this

Someone in Correas camp was his source but he was going to be butt hurt no matter how Carlos left. I don't think Crane ghosted anyone. It would not be smart to do that to Boras.

so a couple of other implications of Correa's leaving the Astros after 7 seasons:

statue outside MMP...gone

jersey number retired...gone

Altuve might be the only player from this championship run to receive those honors

Altuve and Bregman if they are career Astros will have their numbers retired.

There is an off chance that Verlander could (like Nolan Ryan) if we won another title and he has another great 2 seasons here in Houston retiring as an Astro could also have his 35 retired

so right now...Bregman is signed / guaranteed to play 9 seasons with the Astros.

that might be enough for the jersey even if he goes elsewhere after 2024

Why hate either?

Correa wanted the ability to make more per year than any other infielder while at the same time hitting the open market again each of the next 2 years to try for even more money.

Crane decided he wasn't going to be used by Boras and Correa like that and decided that getting someone who is as committed to his organization as he would be to them by accepting a high dollar multi year contract was what is best for his team.

Both sides got what they want. Correa got his contract and Crane will either get Story or will ride with Peña, both of which will have multiple years committed to the Astros

Id flip Yordan and Tucker but not a bad lineup at all.

Probably more similar to our 2018 lineup rather 2019. But still likely a top 5 lineup in baseball

I like Tucker at the 2 hole. Gives him good RBI opportunity and sets up Bregman to get pitches to drive with Kyle and Yordan around him

If alternating lefty/righty is the goal, yours is probably the best lineup

I mean it is totally possible he comes out and disappoints. There are no guarantees.
My hope is for 2022 he is just average at least. As long as he's not a black hole in the lineup as the 8/9 hitter we will be just fine.

Tucker wasn't good in his 2018-2019 at bats but he turned out okay.
