I rode Dusty hard all season but have given him kudos for pushing almost every right button he had to push this postseason. It seems clear the players really like him.

Having said that this team is built with analytics in mind and would benefit from a modern manager who is on the same page as it's GM. It's not clear that Dusty and Click are. The Straw trade and aftermath seem the biggest piece of evidence to that.

Dusty did his job, handled the PR nonsense with the stros scapegoated for every other clubs sign stealing schemes. Time to move ono

19.1 innings from our starters in 6 starts.

I've decided to blame the loss of the World Series on lance once again being made of glass. I'd call him the heel, but that's the most sturdy part of the body so it doesn't suit him well at all. Maybe though he can wear his h town vs everyone shirt all off-season only to crap out when we need him most.
Get used to it. Lance will have arm troubles every year with his arm action. He generates incredible velocity, spin and movement but he is going to completely wreck himself by age 31 (he just turned 28).

Oh I'm def used to it. 2 World Series in 3 years and he's played 0 games.

He was #2 in ERA in the AL. He was one of the few starters that pitched well in the postseason. Gtfo here with this hate.

*postseason

As in, one out of 3 series played. Lol.

Once Lance went down in the ALDS, I only expected them to win the AL crown, so I'm proud of the team and their season despite tonight's effort. The Braves are a great team, but had the Astros held on for the Game 4 win, who knows what would have happened. The offense should have produced more especially after the strong ALCS finish, but that's baseball for ya.

Looking forward to seeing what some new faces can bring to this team in the near future with Leon, Lee, and Pena on the way up. This organization can develop homegrown talent with the best of em, so the future is bright, and the window remains open. Hopefully Click can keep the new bullpen arms around and bring in some legit help for the rotation.

Would be totally fine with it honestly. He deserves another shot and it would be a shame if he doesn't get a ring. Outside of Game 5 (which we won, but arguably hurt us for G6), his managing of this team was absolutely great. Had we won the World Series he would have been my "MVP".

He toys a lot in the regular season, which I'm ok with as long as we make it to the playoffs

I think I've had a enough time to sit down and collect my thoughts in as mature a way as possible and my conclusion from this World Series is:

I'm still ****ing pissed the Astros didn't get live BP games 3/4 and it's the reason we lost I don't care what anybody (chandler) says you can't convince me don't ****ing try. And **** rob manfred. Braves org too. Joe buck for good measure too.
They must have missed bp today too

The only way I want Dusty back is if he convinces Correa to stay, too.

I would rather move on from Dusty and give Espada his shot. The Straw-Meyers situation was ridiculous, but atleast we have Jake for a long time moving forward. I think he's gonna be a great Major Leaguer.

Should we bring back Phil Garner because he doesn't have a ring? We need a coach that accepts and incorporates analytics in their coaching.

I dont think Dusty ignores analytics at all, but he's not just about the analytics. There has to be a balance.

You tell me at beginning of the season we will lose WS in 6 - I'd take it. That's a lot of great baseball to get there and a lot of great moments along the way.
For 2022 we have 3 quality starters in Framber, Javier and Urquidy with wait and see on healthy LMJ
We discovered Chas and new Jake
We added a couple studs in the bullpen in Maton and Graveman.
But nothing will be like this 5 year run. And thanks to the regular posters on this thread who - win or lose - kept us educated and entertained.
Here's to a great season!

Thanks for reminding me why we lost the WS, Jake was taken out.

What's crazy to think about is that if Dusty doesn't play straw as much, we aren't trading him for Maton. No way he would have built enough tradable value.

You guys are nuts if you think Dusty doesn't deserve another two years after walking into the fire.

This team, with healthy pitching and a few additions, is still a playoff and World Series contender. With or without Carlos Correa, we're about to have a ****tone of money come off the books.

I love Carlos, but I truly believe his true colors and future showed up right before your eyes last night.
MaxPower

I agree Carlos is almost certainly gone but he's been great for Houston and is a clubhouse leader. He will be missed.

This team can still be AL West favorites next year with some smart moves. It does feel like this team is slowly getting a little worse each year, which is a bit depressing. I'd like to see them get a few young pieces to add some excitement for the future.

What does this mean?

Say what you will about wether he's worth what he wants but his true colors are that he's a leader, consummate professional, and exceptional teammate.

He stood up for this team and consistently called out the uninformed.

Yeah he didn't perform up to his standards but his true colors were shown in 2020 spring training and they didn't change.

There are a number of candidates, but the worst at-bat of the night belongs to Correa's first inning at-bat. Runners on 1st & 2nd, no outs. Correa watches two fastballs, middle third of the plate, both above the knees. He watches both then swings at a slider low and in at his right foot. It was all over from that point forward.

Very disappointing night.

No doubt. Leaving those guys on in the 1st of an elimination game just can't happen. Have to produce something there.

For some reason Dusty just gives me D Antoni vibes. Will be competitive, make runs, but can't ever win it all.

This. Yes, CC didn't perform well last night, and I was very frustrated with him several times during this WS. But don't let that diminish what he has meant to this team for the past several years. Bottom line - he was one of the strong team leaders during what will be considered a golden age of Astros baseball. He's going to move on to another team, it's inevitable. He deserves whatever $ a team is willing to pay him.

I do think the Astros will be alright without him. Still a very good team, and I think Click will get to work to start filling holes. Will be interesting to see where we spend the large amount of $ coming off the books.

I didn't have a lot of confidence because of his history, but he consistently put guys in position to change the game in a positive manner for Houston. Needed more consistent starting pitching to eat more innings, needed more timely hitting with runners on base and especially in scoring position. There were 2 other games that we lost in this series that were there for the taking, and we even had a late lead in one of them.

But I thought he did a really good job of managing the bullpen when SP sucked to get us in position to win the game. We ran out of steam and bats never turned it around, unfortunately.
