For all the hemming and hawing we did (me included) about this prospect, I bet the fans in the stands will be hyped up about it.

Interesting. Started 4 games this year, but hasn't pitched for them since June when he gave up 5 in 5 against the Bo Sox.
Looks like he ended up having a forearm strain and was shelved until October 3rd where he had an outing with one of their minor league teams. He could be extremely rusty

I can't say I've ever watched Max Fried pitch or know anything about really besides what is on the back of his baseball card. This is a good synopsis of his pitching from Brooks Baseball:

Max Fried has thrown 7,370 pitches that have been tracked by the PITCHf/x system between 2017 and 2021, all of them occuring in the MLB Regular Season. In 2021, he has relied primarily on his Fourseam Fastball (94mph), Curve (74mph) and Slider (85mph), also mixing in a Sinker (93mph). He also rarely throws a Change (85mph).


In 2021, compared to other LHP:
His fourseam fastball has heavy sinking action, is a real worm killer that generates an extreme number of groundballs compared to other pitchers' fourseamers, is straight as an arrow and has well above average velo. His curve has an exceptional bite, has slight glove-side movement and has slightly below average velo. His slider has short glove-side cut, results in somewhat more flyballs compared to other pitchers' sliders and has some two-plane movement. His sinker generates a high number of swings & misses compared to other pitchers' sinkers, has surprisingly little armside run, results in many more groundballs compared to other pitchers' sinkers, has well above average velo and has some natural sinking action. His change dives down out of the zone, generates more whiffs/swing compared to other pitchers' changeups, results in many more groundballs compared to other pitchers' changeups and is slightly firmer than usual.

I got my World Series hoodie yesterday so I'm good if they open the roof tonight. Other stadiums get loud with no roof so we should be fine

If we win or lose tonight it won't be because of that.

It just cracks me up that Manfred gives himself the power to **** with home field advantage this way. He may as well say "you need to soak your infield around 1B. Your players steal too much"

What a tool. Nobody else in any sport has to put up with someone jacking over a team.

It's not that I mind that the roof is open it's that it came by order of the commissioner.

He shouldn't have any say in whether a franchise decides to close the roof.

That's like him having a say in who's on the roster or who bats where or how quick the infield grass is or how slow the infield dirt is.

Where does it say it came by his order? If you listen to the interview from yesterday he just states he thinks it will be open based on the weather forecast.

Why does the Commissioner have a say in opening the roof??? That doesn't seem right at all. You play to win the home field advantage, hence the term home field advantage!!!!

The question was "are you going to have the roof open tomorrow night?"

He said that would depend on the weather forecast. Pretty clear he is the one ordering it
