goals for the regular season were 1 get to the playoffs, 2 be as healthy as possible when you get there, 3 know who you can trust in pressure situations (bullpen, clutch atbats, etc.)

and for 3, you have to put people in pressure situations, uncomfortable situations to know who they are. can they work out of a jam, can they 'find' their pitches midgame, can they hit that LOOGY with any sort of regularity.

did some decisions look really bad and not work out? yes. but he made enough correct calls that we're in the ws. he was playing to win the war, not the battle.

Well, neither of these teams had to overcome as much adversity as the Dodgers....

Your first problem is watching ESPN and expecting solid MLB coverage. The only good MLB person they have is Passan, and even then that dude can't stand the Astros. Everyone loved Vasgersian when he was on MLB Network, now on ESPN he's a hack that needs a new pair of slacks any time a Yankee does anything.

You're much better off listening to MLB Network Radio. Extremely complimentary of the Astros, much more in depth analysis. Most people there are saying people need to get over the cheating scandal and just admit that the Astros have been this good for years.

To be fair, he's one of the only guys out there who has defended Altuve and continuously said there is no evidence of buzzers.

He even wrote today that people need to cut that BS out.

Don't get me wrong... I'm not a huge fan of the guy. But credit where credit is due.

He's the only one at ESPN that isn't a complete hack in their MLB coverage. Like you said, he immediately dismissed the buzzer conspiracy and called it stupid.

Olney is by far the worst. He's the main one there that's pushing the cheating narrative.

However you got here and whenever your fandom started, you're here now. Life as a sports fan doesn't get any better than this. Only one team in Houston history has been more successful than these Astros, the mid-90s Rockets, who won back-to-back NBA titles in 1994 and 1995, made the WCSF in 93 and 96 and the WCF again in 97. Two titles is still more than one, but if the Astros take out the Braves over the next week, they will have no equal in this city's history. Three World Series in five years? Two victories? That's dynasty stuff. That's all-time, all-time. That's the inner circle of the Hall of Fame.

The national media wants to call us the villains. **** them. Our guys are incredible baseball players, love playing with one another, and unite the people of Houston like no team since the Luv Ya Blue Oilers of my youth.

We are so blessed and so lucky to have this incredible group to root for. The best shortstop in the game, the best second baseman in the game, the best young slugger in the game, the lists goes on and on. The ALCS MVP is 24 years old. Our star right fielder who iced Game 6 in that ALCS in 24 years old too. Our two best starters from the ALCS are 26 and 27. If we're lucky, there's a bright future stretching out in front of this team that goes on for years, but that future is unknowable.

Nothing lasts forever in sports, and success is ever so fleeting. A guy who seems destined for greatness one day can get hurt tomorrow and be a shell of his former self. A guy who's been your ace all year can suffer an arm strain and suddenly be on the shelf the rest of the playoffs, and you've just got to make do. All we have is what's right in front of us. The World Series.

This is the Age of Heroes for Houston baseball. Altuve, Correa, Tucker, Alvarez, Gurriel, Bregman, Brantley who's going to possibly shut us down? Let's have some fun, believe in this team, and enjoy the ride together.
