How we didn't lock him up after Game 7 is Bill O'Brien level stupid

I assume Ian Anderson is starting game 3 so that a game Brantley has to start since Anderson is a RHP. Game 4 is a Johnny Bullpen game for Atlanta with LHP Drew Smyly being the bulk guy in the middle innings. That's a game Brantley should come off the bench to hit in. Game 5 is likely Morton again so another Brantley start.

I don't think Yordan is the liability. I think Tucker playing CF is certainly a defensive liability.

If it were me I'd play Yordan in LF, Chas in CF, Tucker in RF, and Brantley off the bench.

Slot Tucker in there in the 2 spot and watch them mash.

I think we all know there is zero chance Dusty puts Brantley on the bench. Game 3 will be Luis or Urquidy? Maybe if I'm setting the rotation I pick the one who induces more ground balls to start game 3. Limit the opportunity for misplaying anything in the OF with the Yordan/Tucker/Brantley lineup.

Edit: plus, even with Brantley maybe not crushing, I think we all feel better with the professional hitter in there.

Luis has to pitch at home game 2 and game 5.

I mean let's be real. The leagues should look the same. Having differences is dumb.

Do these look different?

Of course they don't look different. A good doctor trained for years and thousands were invested by the owner in making sure they looked exactly the same.

Baseball owners should do the same.
I agree, Lex clavatoris designati rescindenda est!

I know Yordan's bat is valuable and ideally you get him every AB possible but is it worth the defensive liability?

Plus would be that bad to have him come off the bench and PH for the pitcher in a big spot?

That alone can be pretty valuable.

I think he has to play, we can't carry Maldonado and the pitcher in the lineup and sit Yordan
yes, Machete batting 8th and the pitcher 9th...woof...is problematic.

very glad the Astros have home field, so it's only an issue for the middle 3 games

7) Chas
8) Maldy
9) pitcher

Is disgusting… hope we don't have to resort to that

Consider that one of those games in Atlanta will be a bullpen game so it's more likely that the 9 spot will be a pinch hitter more often than not.

Does ZG come in to work a couple when we know a batting spot will come up?

Well one things for sure. Yordan is gonna have to learn to play 1st in offseason. Especially if we lose Correa and have to move Yuli to 3rd and let Bregs play SS. At least for year or two.

Hell if he could play 1st now I'd put Altuve in center. Bregs at 2nd and Yuli at 3rd. Too much chemistry to **** up in WS though.

Not like they haven't considered moving Jose to outfield before.

Nah I would have him do is normal starter routine and start the game. Hopefully he can give you 50ish pitches and get into the 3rd inning.

Understood, I'm just saying if you think you pull either Brantley or Yordan out of the lineup, that's what you'll probably be looking at.

Excellent point. And we will all be cursing Dusty's decisions.

If Dusty does what he did against Boston, I will not be cursing him at all. Playoff Dusty > Regular season Dusty by a mile. Let's just hope he can keep this momentum going and finally get his ass a ring.

I think it's pretty clear we're not going to put TED in CF for the WS when we pretty much didn't do it all year. Brantley and Yordan will likely share time in LF. We'll have elite bat to PH late.

Just for consideration - in 2021 Post-season:

Brantley - .311/.311/.356
McCormick - .316/.391/.316

Brantley does have 8 RBI in 45 AB

Well, the move to the outfield was considered prior to 2017, so. Can't have 3 guaranteed outs at a NL park.

Simply ask yourself who you're more comfortable in outfield, Tuve or Yordan. Hell, Marwin plays what 6-7 positions? Jose can play anywhere on the field except 1st, catch and possibly SS.

Tucker is gonna have to go to CF or else an inning is over once we get to 7th spot in order.

Hallion and Kulpa. Kulpa hates houston. That's fantastic. At least I think it was Kulpa that royally screwed them over.

Brantleys OBP with no walks is what frustrates me in the 2 hole.

Yuli ain't going back to 3rd. He'll be 38 and hasn't played there in a couple of years. He'd be moving to 1st at this point even if he had been playing 3b all along.

We can probably hold this discussion for a couple weeks, but just a quick glance

Altuve 2B
Brantley LF
Bregman 3B
Yordan DH
Tucker RF
Yuli 1B
Meyers CF
(Free Agent or Rookie) SS
Maldy? C

Another option is just slide Bregman to SS, where he has played all in college and some in the majors, and put Diaz at 3rd.

You're probably not changing much, and you're not shuffling 3 or 4 guys into *new* positions just b/c you lose Correa. The only time things get iffy is when playing in a National League park.

Umpire accuracy ranks this season out of 99 total:

Tom Hallion - 87/99
Ted Barrett - 83/99
Ron Kulpa - 91/99
Alfonso Marquez - 57/99
Dan Bellino - 37/99
Mike Muchlinski - 49/99
Chris Conroy - 21/99

For the World Series, that is ridiculously awful

Well of course he's not. We were talking about one to two games versus sitting either Brantley/Alvarez in Atl.

If our pitching looks shaky and giving up runs we can't allow our 7-9 spots be automatic outs on road. No one is talking about moving someone to 3rd for a full season at 37 years old.

Luis has to pitch at home game 2 and game 5.
Looks like Urquidy gets slightly more fly balls than grounders, so you might want a bit better defensive outfield when he pitches in Atlanta
