Our punishment for being "cheaters" is making it to the ALCS meanwhile Yanks don't progress to the playoffs despite having the biggest advantage you can buy in baseball ($$$$$). Yanks have legalized cheating and are riding the pine.

Let me guess. He lives in the Republic of Texas and has never even been to New York. I'm sure he's a great guy, and I really mean that, but front runners are rather bothersome. And the Jankees are not even remotely front runners at all anymore.
This series isn't over. It doesn't look good and we have real problems but this isn't over.

No idea if Altuve can't avoid making an error

Astros really need a calming influence to settle them down right now. Greinke starting could be just the guy that the rest of them rally around. He is about as calm as they come, just hope he has enough "stuff" to get us through the first few innings and we can build a lead to get some confidence back

So then I guess he'd agree that the baseball Gods must be punishing the Yankees for the multiple WS they won with multiple steroid users on their roster. Add their own sign stealing to that and maybe the Gods will keep them out of the WS for another decade.

Tonight's major storyline will be Zack Greinke and I could very easily see it going either way

1. He follows the current trend of Astro starters, gets shelled early, Astros fans say he's done.
2. He gives us the outing we needed, and becomes a hero once again in Houston with many in the media calling it "gutsy".

Game 4 kind of feels like the series.

If they win, it's 3-1 and we're essentially finished. Winning 3 in a row with the way our starting pitching has crumbled would be next to impossible.

If we win, it's 2-2 and we have home field advantage. There would be something about being tied after getting smoked in games 2 and 3 that would be energizing to us.


Kind of simple to say….. but it's the most important game of the season.

I'm going with #2. Greinke will come through It will be up to the bats to wake up and they could help a lot if they would hit like they did against the CWS.

If the Astros win tonight, I believe they can win it in 6 or 7, if the Astros lose its over essentially. I also don't want to cry "cheating" on the BoSox, but their bats have been AWFULLY good as of late.

Greinke was incredible in game 7 of the 2019 World Series. Got pulled too early....this game isn't quite game 7 of the world series so I don't think he'll be too worried about it. I like the change of pace he provides....any change of pace is good after the last two starts.

Problem is at his best he can only gives us 3 MAYBE 4 innings. And it's not even about his stuff it's his endurance and not being stretched out.

ZG has to get us 3 then Javier can get us 3 then it's the back end.

Moreso the offense has to get out to an early lead. They have to jump on the starter and even if it's a 1 or 2 run lead. We need to score first and at least give the pitching staff a chance.

At his best he can only give us 3 or 4 innings? Not so sure about that.

All this talk about pitching (and rightfully so), but if our bats don't wake up it doesn't matter who is on the mound. The top of the order has been really bad and needs to wake the F up.

At his best he can only give us 3 or 4 innings? Not so sure about that.


Since Aug 29 he's logged 12.1 IP. If you get 4 IP out of him it would be a bonus.

The ideal situation is Greinke gets a few quick outs. I have a feeling Boston won't be very aggressive with him, though. Wait and see how the ump is calling things on the edges, where he likes to pitch.

Think of it like this...

Pressly can go out and look unhittable and be on his game but he can't give you any more than 2 IP.

That's essentially where Greinke is right now.

True. That graphic last night about the number of hits from the 1-3 spots in the order was very Killer B like. That has to change tonight

Greinke - as long as possible, probably about 3 innings
Javier - 2-3 innings
Do whatever we can do to get to the 8th inning for the Graveman/ Pressly combo

I think this actually helps ZG.

He needs an ump back there that'll give him wiggle room.

Now the offense is gonna have to adjust but I think this bodes well for Greinke.

I think Houston needs to relax, and make sure they strike first. I think that will calm the team down. If they win, the series is tied, that will weigh heavy on Boston knowing they have kicked our ass and yet the series is tied. For some reason I was really nervous yesterday, but feel confident tonight

We know ZG us starting so it's all a moot point here but wonder if there was any discussion on having Stanek open. He opened for TB before coming here.

Throw him out there to work the first inning or two then let ZG start with a clean inning and the bottom of the order. Would also be a nice change of pace to go from Stanek to Greinke.

Just a thought.

I really want a full 40 pitches out of ZG. I want him to go 2 plus. But at the first sign of bleeding, we need to yank him. We cannot afford another early blowup. Make sure Javier is warm from the jump. We also need to use Pressly and Graveman earlier. They're both fresh. They may even need multi-inning out of both of them. We can't keep just going to Yimi and Maton mid-innings.

I am pretty sure Kyle Tucker could murder someone live on the field and get away with a misdemeanor at this point. Its like no one is paying attention to one of the best players in all of the playoffs.

7 games (1 less than all the Red Sox)
.296 AVG
.321 OBP
.704 SLG
1.025 OPS (6th for guys with at least 20 ABs)
3 HR (tied in 3rd behind only **** & Devers)
11 RBI (tied with Devers for most this year)
7 Runs (5th)
3 SB (tied in 2nd)

He's 3 RBI away from becoming the 5th ever to reach 20 in the postseason before the age of 25.
