So giants gift for the most wins in baseball is playing a team that just won a million in a row to get in or a team that won 106…that sucks

When will we know about TV either MLB or FS1? Or will it be on both? I switched to Fubo to watch Astros regular season games, but I don't believe Fubo carries MLB.

I believe it's on both. So if you gave fs1 you will have it.

I wonder if that out by Uncle Mike does it for Yuli. Not only no hit but unless something odd happens Yuli won't get another AB.
Something odd happened.

Yanks v. Red Sox for the wildcard game. Must see TV?
Sure but not quite as much as Redbirds v Effin' Dodgers.

No postseason patches on hats this year

Regarding Correa, and he is likely gone after the postseason, what do you think it would take to keep him?

I think it would make sense to offer an 8 year deal at 265. That would get him more money than Lindor per year. Then, add clauses with a player option at year 4 and club option in year 6.

That way, the team is kept together as is for a few more years. After year 4, CC will be 31, the same age George was when he left. Then, at year 6 the Astros can cut bait if they need to.

I don't think CC will go for it, but it's much better than what they offered at the beginning of the year.

We will likely see Pena and Breggy at SS next year. That gives me the sad.

no way he takes a contract with a club option like that, imo. too young and too good to get a non fully guaranteed deal.

Just like it's still hard for me to see Springer wearing Blue Jays gear, it's gonna be hard to see Correa in other gear.

He's the kind of player that stays out there to experience big moments, even when he's on the other end of them.

He tweeted about it earlier in the year when he stayed out there after something crazy happened.

I love this so much.

Kemp is a great utility player. He can come back to the Astros anytime, imo.

so in the final standings...

the Astros finished 5 games ahead of the Mariners (90-72).

and 9 games ahead of the A's (86-76)

The Angels only got 94 combined games from Rendon and Trout. I am sure them staying healthy will be why they are picked to win the division next year.....

and what a painful finish to the season for the Blue Jays.

George finished with a .907 OPS including 22 HR's and 50 RBI --- but in only 78 games played.

next year is his age 32 season.

-----

Semien finished with 45 HR's and 39 doubles --- played in all 162 games --- going to be a huge loss

it will be interesting to see if the Angels ever get peak-Trout (now 30 years old) and peak-Ohtani in the same season.

the Angels will be desperate for pitching again in the offseason

Straw, Toro, and Kemp all played better for their new teams than they did for us (Kemp was traded prior to last season), but I'm happy for them apart from the success the latter two have had against us.

Straw even finished with 3.3 br war (or whatever the correct way to cite that is) this season, which is crazy considering how poorly he started.

I checked the schedule for '19 and '20. The opening day of the divisional series had two games scheduled, then the full four games in the days following. For that first day, the early game started at 3:04pm and 3:07pm. I'll be traveling from Louisiana mid-morning so I sure hope that's the earliest start.

I wouldn't look at 2020 for any guidance.

In 2019, the first Thursday game (STL @ ATL) was 4:02 CDT

In 2018, the first Thursday game (COL @ MIL) was 4:08 CDT

https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/MIL/MIL201810040.shtml

In 2017, the first Thursday game (BOS at HOU) was at 3:10 CDT

In 2016, the first Thursday game (TOR at ARL) was at 3:39 CDT

In 2015, the first Thursday game (ARL at TOR) was at 3:07 CDT

I think it safe to say we'll be playing around 3-4 on Thursay.

Random Series Info

Series odds:

White Sox +106
Astros -124

It's not a pickem, but it may as well be. We're tiny favorites.

The last White Sox postseason series win? 2005 WS. We owe them some revenge for that.

Lastest on Rodon:

Quote:

"He's like the great unknown," La Russa said.

Because the division series roster is not due until Thursday morning, La Russa said he plans to wait and see how Rodon feels Wednesday after having thrown the day before.

"[We will] check that out very carefully and fast-forward to when he would go out there and make a determination. But that could be a tough call," La Russa said.

Rodon went on the 10-day injured list Aug. 11 with shoulder soreness and has continued to deal with that issue since being reactivated Aug. 26. Rodon left his Sept. 20 start against the Tigers after three innings with "general soreness" and threw five innings last Wednesday against the Reds.

You see a significant drop in velo and spin from Rodon.

White Sox Road Issues:

The White Sox finished 93-69, just 2 games behind us. But they did so in a very different way. 40-41 on the road and 27-29 vs teams >.500.

1-5 vs NYY
2-5 vs HOU
3-3 vs TB
4-3 vs BOS
10-16 vs AL Playoff Teams

The last, and only, road series win vs some >.500 came in April vs Seattle.

Dallas Keuchel Reunion?

It may be unlikely. There is a decent shot the former Cy Young Winner may not even make the playoff roster. His Ks are down BBs up and he's getting a high er OPS than any time in his career. His ERA is north of 5 and his WHIP is north of 1.5.

I like TK, but there are better options. I miss Bill Brown, but I know he's retired. Rob Ford would be a good option imho.

What is wrong with TK? He pairs really well with Blum.

Yeah, I have no complaints about TK whatsoever. Are there better? Probably. But he's great and the chemistry he has with Blum is awesome. I wouldn't change a thing.

I loved Bill Brown, but I think that's more of a nostalgia thing at this point.

Ford and Sparky are fine. I like Sparky. I'm pretty neutral on Ford. I think he's decent but probably in the bottom third of radio guys across the league.

That's just me though.
