Slow down the video. It was actually knocked out by Kiermaier's left hand. Maybe not on purpose, but doubtful the catcher even knew it was knocked out immediately… he obviously didn't based on the reactions. Makes it an even better story I'd it was knocked out on purpose.

Not like he was just leaving it lying around or being careless with it "letting it fall".

Watch Kiermayer's reaction. He picks up the card & where does he first look? Into the opponent's dugout! He was looking to see who might have seen him pick up the card!

Why didn't he just leave it for the umpire to pick up?

I think we all know the answer.

Hey the first one might be a hot take but I didn't say the second one.

If you leave a strategy card on the playing field that's your fault. It would be different if he stole it out of his pocket or something, but it was just sitting there. Like that (I think?) Texas vs OU game where Leach left a fake playbook out for the other team to find.

Remember how he basically singlehandedly kept us in the playoff hunt while the rest of the pitching staff went on the DL? Barely. He's spent too much time sliding into the DMs of tweens. Plus the whole rat thing. Tuck him.

I think that plunk was the exact right way to handle the situation. And I was happy to see it, happy to see benches come out but nothing happening, no one tossed etc. perfect response, perfectly handled now let's move on.

Watch Manfred come out tomorrow and suspend the pitcher for 10 games or something stupid

I don't think anyone will. With his elbow problems, he's likely due for Tommy John. I think his career is over. Would the Orioles even take him at this point?

I wonder if Fiers is really the pariah that we think and hope he is. I can't imagine him hanging in the majors with his recent record and his ratness. Who knows though.
