Give JV the QO let Grienke walk

I seriously think father time may have caught up to ZG.

He's just fooling anyone anymore. Has nothing that hitters really have to respect.

He's been worse lately but most of the season he's been a dependable starter.

I think people are too selectively looking at recency bias. He will come back for us in a big way

I think we'll be looking to the trade market to add a top tier starter this winter. Not the free agent market.

We've got lots of $$ to take back a big salary and lots of trade capital.
Where is this trade capital you speak of?

I don't want Siri, Chas, Jake, Lee, Leon, Pena to go anywhere.

What's your plan for: Chas, Siri, Meyers, Tucker and Brantley….oh and playing time for Yordan

Just not enough at bats for that. But I do now see why Leon was put in the IF. Call me crazy but I'd like to see in years to come (2025) a lineup of:
3B-Bregman
SS- Pena
2B- Leon
1B- Yordan
RF- Siri
CF- Meyers
RF-Ted
C-Lee

CWS should be thankful the AL Central is pure dog poop. They lost again and are in free fall. The lead over them is 4.5 and 5 in the loss column.

Dusty's process: put all the names on the wall, throw jello at them, and whichever names remain unsplatted don't make the roster.

with Diaz healthy...the off-days for the infielders are not that big of a deal.

they were earlier in the year...when those days meant Robel or Wilson

Off day for Bregman who's coming off a hamstring injury makes sense. At least now we've built a cushion over the A's. If our lead was 1-4 games I'd say no days off

I can see that

You just pick up and once you realize what it is your not giving it back.

I think it's kinda BS they didn't give it back but I guess once it's on the ground and the catcher didn't pick it up it's fair game.

Maybe it's just me, but shouldn't the immediate impulse be to give it back (at least to the home plate ump) when you realize it's not yours? That is, unless you realized the value of the information, which would directly contradict what he's saying here. Dirty.

Watching that video it's pretty obvious that Kiermaier knew what it was and who it belonged to. He does a double take and looks back at the Jays catcher. I don't believe the innocent act one bit.

Having said that it's not his job to be a choir boy and hand it back. Or the Rays job either. The Jays can change their signs. It's not that hard.

This accusatory cheating BS is just that. BS. Each of these teams is doing whatever they can to try and get an edge. In every sport in the world.

And oh yeah. Mr boiled chicken and rice plays for the Rays.

Zero chance anyone in major league baseball gives that thing back. I doubt very much there is a rule against something as trivial as this. You wanna put your gameplan on a card? You better not ****ing drop it.

Now, they can always pull a page out of the Mike Leach playbook and leave a fake gameplan lying around on purpose.

If I understand it's not signs it's their scouting/pitching philosophy for how they will attack each player. Can't just change signs on that…they should probably secure that so it can't just fall out.

Well, not everyone is going to hit. Some rookies will suck and go back down if needed.

Don't most teams have 3 starters and a 4th OFer? That likely just leaves Siri out. One injury and you'll need him.

Diaz won't be healthy the entire year so we'll absolutely need both Pena & Leon. Can never have too many guys who can play SS.

Also, Siri won't be under control in 2025.

Also also, 2 right fielders and no left fielder is one hell of a shift.

Think more critically than that
You might want to spell it out for me. I don't see a good trade target yet either. No on obvious like Cole was.
I'm not sure why you think we'd have to deal the guys you listed to pull off a trade. It's possible we might have to deal one, but we've got a numbers crunch anyway and now might be a good time to sell on someone like Siri anyway.

Don't listen to the establishment baseball media rate our farm system. We've got plenty of good desirable prospects. Who guessed that we'd be able to significantly upgrade our bullpen at the deadline with only Abraham Toro and Bryan De La Garza going out the door?

What did we give up for JV? Cole? Pressly? No one of significance who factored into our short/medium term plans. Greinke was the exception, but that was a different circumstance and Luhnow admitted he overpaid (with good reason though).

Aside from the guys you listed, I could name plenty of other prospects who would have appeal to a trade counterparty. Nova, H Brown, Barber, Solomon, Ivey. Plus guys like Abreu, Paredes, James, even Whitley, who still have potential but could use a change of scenery. They would definitely have trade value.

It's also becoming pretty evident that we have a surplus of guys capable of producing at the MLB level that we just don't have enough spots for. Toro and De La Garza are perfect examples. No one had heard of Jake Meyers or Chas before this year. And opposing GMs have to be looking hard at our farm system to find the next Teo, Kemp, etc... who can play but aren't part of the Astros short/medium term plans.

Who are the high end starting pitcher targets this winter? I might need my best friend Farmer1906 to help pinpoint some for me. Perhaps we could discuss over turkey legs and beer at King Tuck's end of season banquet. Looking forward to seeing you in the VIP section.

Well this could get fun. With a magic number of 6 and playing the A's in the next series there is a good chance of clinching in Oakland. That would be a kick in the junk. I wonder if Rat Fiers will be there?

Ok well that's pretty shltty

But also did the Jays just think the Rays were just gonna be like 'Oh yeah...Here ya go'.

This one situation where I can see both sides. I don't completely agree with one side of the other.

The only one I can remember was Musgrove for Cole. Wouldn't mind having him still.

Meh...they only ****ty thing about it was Kiermaier's response. He should have just owned up to it: "Yeah, I found the other team's card. It was lying on the ground; if you don't want the other team to have your scouting report then maybe you should secure it better. Tough *****"

So I had no clue that Rodon left the White Sox game last night after 69 pitches with soreness.

They're now saying they're hopeful he can pitch in the playoffs.

Yeah...Give me the #2 seed with home field against a Rodon-less (or a Rodon who's been shelved for awhile) White Sox all day long.
