Everyone keeps talking about a rules change, but based on my understanding, the rule hasn't actually changed, just MLB said they'd be enforcing the rule as written. Am I wrong on that?

It really strikes me as similar to how MLB put out a statement they would be enforcing video rules in 2017, but no one cared because they'd never actually done anything about it.

I get they didn't want to have a negative impact on the game in progress, but they had to stop it. That was getting stupid.

This is correct. Nothing changed except MLB's willingness to enforce

I believe they specifically said x, y, z are not allowed. Pretty sure the rule as written said foreign substances. A big one was sunscreen mixed with rosin. Which, isn't necessarily a foreign substance. I mean you expect players during day games to wear sunscreens, a rosin bag is sitting behind the mound.

It appears there might be a break in the rain around midnight, so they might just wait it out. They have a lot of work to do on the infield though.

I feel like the Orioles just want to get it done with and move on. But I'm sure our guys want to play on. Given it's in Baltimore and the MLB is stupid I'm guessing it'll just count as a completed game

Yep. Basically if cops across America started enforcing speeding tickets if you're going 5 MPH or less over. Everybody does it but it's never enforced

I doubt they would officially call it the achievement that shall not be named. If MadBum didn't get one in a double header, they won't give one here.

I'll take a W without using anymore pitchers and playing in wet conditions over a combined whatever they call it and rush getting someone hurt and burning more arms. Especially if it's gonna be a couple hours.

MLB doesn't recognize certain things if they are not nine.

Radar looks like it might be done soon. Still, just call the thing and get on to tomorrow

If he can be obtained for 8/240 into age 34, there are worse contracts I suppose.

But anything with 10/300+ I'd walk away from

For the record: I'm not saying sign Greinke. I'm saying money may be better spent finding a suitable replacement (that may not be mega star quality) + bullpen help than to sign Carlos to an outrageous contract.

This assumes money is a constraint, which knowing Crane, it always is.

If Greinke is willing to take a sweetheart deal for a much lower rate for 1-2 years, it may be worth taking. In which case I'd like to sign both him and Carlos for around 8/240 at worst. But you can't always get what you want.
