I didn't see the replay b/c I was finishing some stuff up, but wasn't the 1st hit Maton's fault b/c Yuli made a great play and Maton didn't get over to cover 1st.
The way it bounced off his leg, he was looking in the outfield because he thought that's where it went. When he saw Yuli had a play, he sprinted to 1B, but it was too late. Even if he sprinted as soon as it hit his leg, it would have been a bang, bang play at best.

I will definitely count that one as unlucky, although it was hit pretty hard back up the middle, so probably would have been a hit anyway.

Thanks for the clarification, I had the volume off and looked up right as Yuli looked like he was looking for a person to toss it to.

You know it's bad when Blummer and Kalas both question the decision. They seem to bite their tongues on questionable management most of the time, but didn't really do that tonight.

My half glass full rational has been that he's just "saving" guys for later in weird ways and is gonna stop pulling this mind boggling **** the closer we get to the playoffs. But I'm moving ever closer to that 99.9 percentile of the slide rule that he's just senile and we're gonna see some of these heinous decisions in the playoffs and our guys are gonna have to win it all in spite of him.

So, Dusty has managed the team into a best case 10th inning where you'll have a rookie who strikes out at a high rate coming up 3rd in the 10th as opposed to a guy who was 3-5 with 3 RBIs tonight.

That's just….terrible.

I thought I saw Yordan reaching for his leg/knee after he got up from sliding home. Thought he might have gotten dinged up at the time. But weird that he would take the field then be recalled if he was hurt.
