2015 AL WC Astros 3 NYY 0 in NY
2017 ALCS Astros won series 4-3. That series ended with Lance McCullers throwing 20 straight curveballs that Yankees hitters knew were coming and couldn't hit.
2019 ALCS Astros won series 4-2 including walk off HR in game 6.

I'm sorry. I guess I didn't evaluate them thru the "i was born in 2015" lens. If only the astros had made it to a few more world series, the yankees might only have 23 or 24 vs 27.

You mean the astros weren't allowed to ever play them? Or just weren't good enough to be able to? I friggin hate the yankees, but 40 pennants and 27 titles, no one has owned them.

Notre Dame and Clemson have only played 4 times and once in the playoffs. I'm guessing they suck too much to play each other?
I'd compare the Astros to Clemson. Just got good in the past 5 years and now are dominant. The Yankees are notre dame or Texas. A lot of history .... but haven't done much in the last decade

The Astros were in the NL until 2013. Yes the Astros don't have the best history ... but this CURRENT group of Astros owns the Yankees. I don't think Aaron judge and co don't care about what the Astros/Yankees series was like prior to 2017.

It's funny you say that. You'd think the Yankees would be celebrating their 27 rings. But they've spent an awful amount of effort and tears .... borderline unhealthy amount ... on the 2017 and 2019 rings they didn't get.

Since you want to talk about pennants, you know, that thing you win in direct competition, let's go down that path.

Since the Astros moved to the AL and the Yankees have had a chance to compete for said pennant directly against the Astros, the Yankees count is 0 and the Astros count is 2. And looking closer both of said pennants came directly by beating the Yankees in the ALCS for that coveted pennant. And the third chance we kept them from winning one by knocking them out early.

So just to summarize: when these teams competed for a pennant together, the Yankees haven't won any, the Astros have won 2 and both were directly at the expense of the Yankees.

If you want to fire up your Delorean and talk about the 20 Or so pennants the Yankees won while traveling on trains between NY and the other teams in the NE corridor all while playing on non-integrated teams, go for it.

Let me spell it out for you -> 16 pennants since 1960 = 16 times they were available for a matchup that Houston wasn't. I was estimating on the 20; it was actually 16 to be exact. But, Yankees have been owned. Got it. Carry on.

They've won 40 pennants overall.

Yankees fans are grateful that Astros did not exist in 20s/30s/40s/50s. when they got the bulk of those 27 titles.

Since 2002 when MLB imposed a salary cap and luxury tax penalties, the Yankees have won one World Series. That was in 2009 and it has a giant asterisk due to cheaters Arod, Cano and Pettitte.

Yankees are now the Astros' b****. I won't consider them a rival until they beat us.
