Red Sox versus Dodgers. Just what MLB wanted. You knew they'd do what they could to get this match-up and they have.

Which is why I'm calling this rigged. Illegal collusion happening right in front of us. This is no different than the Black Sox throwing a series for money.

Yeah cause that will end well. Like the umps will definitely give the Astro's fair calls then...

This. AJ isn't that kind of manager. I think you can question a few moves he's made, but he's also made some great moves. He's a really good manager.
Not this series he isn't. No touch and over-managing every situation.
Yep - he's tried way too hard and it's showed. He's definitely overboard on the managing and it's hurt the team.

So what would be different than how it's been the rest of the series? At least show your team you give a **** and will fight for them.

AJ comments are weak. He needs to lose his **** and call everyone out.
They were last loss, too. Man up and own the poor management of the pitching staff, AJ. You are just as much to freaking blame.

The pitchers also have to perform when they are called on. Name one who has outside of JV.

Agree to disagree. I thought moving bregman up to give him more protection was a great move. I thought inserting joe Smith was a bad move. You take the good with the bad, but I don't believe the Astros win last year or make it this far this year without him. He's one of the best.

The theory that says that he would have made the catch without the fans there is just ridiculous. You can't assume he makes that play, I don't care if he is the MVP or Willie f'ing Mays. It's a home run bottom line
It doesn't even matter. The "theory" doesn't even make sense. Once his glove enters the stands a fan could rip it off his hand for all anyone cares. No interference is allowed once the ball crosses the plane to leave the field of play..

I like how the announcers tried to make a case that Boston got screwed on that play... because they missed out on a historic catch.

Pretty sure the team knows whether hinch has their back or not without having to get tossed to prove it. He spends a little bit of time with them throughout the year...

If that ball doesn't bounce back in to play, they for sure call it a homer. The fact that it came back in to play, gave them the opening to make the horrible call

Blame the manager is this threads favorite past time. They wanted Hinch fired last year.

I enjoyed the game much better today on mute. If that's what they said...good Lord...at least the studio crew knew better and called a spade a spade

Ask those players if AJ has their back. Each one of them have said it multiple times. They don't need him to go off on an ump to know that.

Oh, and by the way, AJ did get tossed in a game this year when he stood up for Altuve after an ump all but went after him.

I feel like this is 1986. And we just got Fred Brocklandered. A complete ****up umpire who completely changes the outcome of a series.

Don't forget- Hinch prides himself on being the calmest guy in the room. No surprise he tries to rationalize everything.

LMJ is the LAST guy to call on in a must-throw-strikes situation. The Sox have shown all series that they aren't chasing, and McCullers throws more balls than any pitcher we have. Bad bad call that is 100% on Hinch.

This is true too. I think if it stayed over the wall, probably gets called a HR.

I'd hate to be those guys that interfered with Betts right about now.

Why? They didn't do anything any other fan wouldn't do. He interfered with their space. Horrible call.

He was not leaning over!!

To clarify, I meant, if anything, the player was encroaching on their space. His glove is across the line. Fair game in the stands.

I'm talking about his post game presser. I understand not getting tossed in the game.

He needs to call the MLB out on their bull****, instead of saying thank you sir may I have another. This isn't the 1st replay call the Astros have been ****ed on this series or this season. They reviewed and overturned and unreviewable play for Christ sakes.

MLB will likely have to update their replay policy on fan interference. If replay cannot confirm interference, it should be a hit, regardless of what was called on the field. You should never defer to the call made from two hundred feet away because it was merely a guess.

After the unreviewable review combined with the Altuve play in the regular season, it was clear to me we had better not let any decisions be made in NY. I'm not one for conspiracy theories, but it's no secret who MLB would prefer to see win this series.

Combine that with how many mistakes we have made, and it's hard to win games.

Hinch has been off on his timing and managingof pitching

MLB has flat a$$ sucked in this deal

Bad starting pitching can do that to a manager. And struggling relievers don't help make decisions easier.

I don't think people even question this man. I think people are still saying literally any other pitcher aside from JV needs to do their job when called upon. Can you at least agre with that and stop trying to pin the entire series on Hinch?

I'm even more upset that MLB and Joe himself won't have to answer for this. They'll hide behind their bs explanation, and there is nothing anyone in the Astros organization or the rest of baseball can do. It's infuriating to see someone completely alter a series and not have to own up to anything at all.

I'll even bet Joe West gets a WS assignment and no one can question it without getting hit in the pocketbook.

Problem is no one he has put in has done their job. We had a clean 9th only because Reddick makes an amazing play. We still had a walks and a HBP in the 9th.

Who is Hinch suppose to put in when no one is doing their job?

I agree here. Umpires need to be able to answer for calls.
