After the first two games I think 2 things are very apparent. I know this is "thanks captain obvious" but I truly believe the rest of this series hinges on this.

1. Springer and/or altuve HAVE to get on base. It doesn't need to be both of them but just as long as somebody is standing on first base Boston has to throw to Bregs.

2. Yuli/Marwin/Correa don't care how we shift the lineup around SOMEBODY has got to drive in runs behind Bregman. If we can't find anyone in the 4 hole to drive all these base runners on Boston is going exaggerate this pitching around him even further despite how many people are on base in front of bregs.

Bregman is getting the Barry bonds treatment right now and he's doing the right thing. Take your 4 pitches and go stand on 1B hoping somebody can pick you up. Can somebody do it?

It's doubtful this video/instance changes anything. This is a conversation that has been going on for a long time, and actually implementing or removing the rule has never got any traction.

The general consensus (except for Tyler Bauer) is that pinetar helps the pitcher get a better grip and feel for the ball. It doesn't necessarily increase spin rate, or make the ball fly funky. The reason the rule was originally created is so that balls aren't being ruined (this is from back in the day when balls were being used much much longer than 2-3 pitches).

There probably isn't a single team in MLB who doesn't have at least 1 pitcher guilty of using pinetar/some substance. That's why no team usually tries to have it enforced. But every year when the postseason rolls around, it gets brought up again
