Second ninth inning choke in 3 days

So now we are mad that Hinch brought in Devo, our best reliever this season, to close out the game?

Hinch is always so afraid to leave in the guy that dominates the 8th. Always tries to play the set-it-up 8th, close-it-down 9th. It's led to at least 4 blown saves this year

Just trying to figure it out, so now the same Rondon that people were complaining about against Cleveland is the 100% right choice to let go an extra inning.

It's apparently ****ing illegal for a reliever to pitch more than 1 inning
Nah, he's right. Rondon hasn't pitched more than 1 inning all year. I get that he pitched well in the 8th but pulling him for the 9th was not a bad decision. Going to Devo on a back-to-back-to-back night was a bad decisionFrok said:rosco511 said:

You guys are so frustrating and have such short memories.
We killed Jansen last year twice when they tried it. He was the best closet that year.
More often than not, it doesn't workout as well when you leave a reliever in more than one inning.
Plus, given that Rondon has been a closer most of his big league career, how used to going multiple innings is he?
YEH BUT MUH HINCHED.rosco511 said:

Hit probability on Gardner's ball was 31%, not like he crushed it.

He had 10 pitches!!!
Relievers are weird. You don't find many that can close an inning, wait for your team to bat, and come out firing in the next inning. Like I said, putting Devo in was a bad decision but I don't think pulling Rondon was a bad decision.WelchAg said:Beat40 said:.Mr.Bond said:

I can't tell if you're agreeing or disagreeing with me. But you're right, if Hinch left Rondon in and he gave up that HR, people here would be crying about how Hinch could trust Rondon in that situation. There are a lot of nancies on these threads, you can't talk logically with them.rosco511 said:
Gardner's ball had a 31% hit probability. He did not hit it that well so hard to be that critical of Devo and Hinch. I think it is fair to question the decision, but the issue I have is that most people on here always assume the other alternative would have definitely worked. Hinch has left guys in in the past and it has worked sometimes and sometimes it has not, but I guarantee the same people complaining about this move would have been complaining had Rondon stayed in and given up the HR instead.

And devo absolutely mowed down the Indians in the 8th that game on a handful of pitches and what did we do?...trotted out somebody new in giles for the 9th just for the sake of making a move and choked up the lead.
Devo was sharp that game and hitting corners... why screw around with that simply to bring in someone new?
