Another way to look at what we've been talking about:

In the Astros 26 wins, the average score has been 6.3 - 1.3.

In their 17 losses, the average score has been 4.4 - 2.1.

If it's a close game, not looking good for the good guys. Hopefully that will get turned around soon.

Exactly. No chance they break up the nl central or AL east imo. A team in Mexico would be beyond stupid. No FA is going to live in that **** hole corrupt place
It's true that you don't have to have lived in Fallujah to know it's not a nice place, But I wonder how many people commenting on Mexico City have actually been there.

I bet even fewer have been to Venezuela, the Dominican republic, Cuba and other Latin countries whose Spanish-speaking baseball players would not only consider Mexico City to be a step above what they are used to, but would also love the city and feel at home speaking Spanish.

One thing that's for sure is the house would be packed. I'm not sure that I'd rather play in an empty stadium in one of our own domestic ****holes like Detroit than I would in front of a packed house in Mexico City.

You aren't selling suites, or Diamond Club season tickets in the DR, Cuba, or Venezuela. In 2016, the average price of attendance was 77.92for two people. In the DR, the average wage is about $7.50 a day. There's no way the stadium is filled. Conversely, if the stadium is full, the teams won't be able to pay major league salaries.
I don't want to clog up the thread with a long rant about Mexico City, but I think you should do some research on wealth distribution and corporate presence there, then some more about the most common businesses/entities that buy luxury suites. IDK if there is research on the Mexican & Mexican/American's sporting event expenditure relative to salary, but having lived both in Mexico City and Houston I can tell you anecdotally that Mexicans embrace their teams the way the more rabid American fan bases (Cubs, Cowboys, etc) do. I'm not saying that they are going to be able to gouge on cheap seats and still have a packed house like many American stadiums do, but the luxury boxes will be bought.

You have a strong point about avg price vs. avg salary, but a Mexico City team would also have the entire and very significant Mexican TV market, which would mitigate a lot of the resources they don't have.

Let's just put it this way - people a lot smarter & well-researched than either of us disagree with you, or else Manfred wouldn't publicly promote Mexico City as an expansion candidate the way he does.

I'm not arguing about Mexico City, but when you try to apply the reasons why a MLB franchise could thrive in Mexico City to the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, and Cuba, it doesn't translate well.
I don't think you read my initial post correctly. What I wrote was that players from those countries would enjoy playing in Mexico. It was in response to someone that said FAs would not play in Mexico.

Ok. Is Stassi only hitting as well as he is because of days off and matchups? Or are we getting Hinched?
CSWendt

Stassi has great splits against lefties, but below average versus righties. So Hinch is essentially platooning him

Did you say rook? I'd expect taking a no-no into the eighth knowing how we handle guys we're seeing for first time.

Pretty sure he just guessed right. Wasn't a bad pitch.

But in regards to sequencing, Trout saw four strikes, two of which were called balls. So there's you're luck factor. Should be a 1-0 game.

It was a joke bc every time the offense struggles that's the only word that seems to show up on this thread.
