Has Fisher really been much better than Jake? Could he be next if he continues his decline?
I feel you. I rarely look at or post on the board during games anymore.Ag_07 said:
After I read the comments when Cole gave up 2 in the 1st I told myself I was done for the night. I didn't come back in here until Altuve came through.
It was very nice to watch the game and not have to read all the BS, but it's sad that we're only half way through May and I've already had to step back and take a break for the board.

Does Blum not go on the road trips?

I'm not panicking, but I do think Kemp, White, or Davis would add more to this offense than Fisher or Marisnick.
At least!Harry Dunne said:Think about how our opponents must feel. If we had a decent closer and DH we'd be about 40-1 right now.Echoes97 said:
Yeah, yet another "deepest he's gone" night for an opposing pitcher, man this is frustrating.
I know. I've been a calmer poster throughout the years. Don't bleed often (except about DoLittle, I will always bleed about that), but many of you guys should ENJOY this. Reigning World Series champs that look to be an even better team when they start clicking on all cylinders. If we get down or get shutout, who cares, there's a game coming tomorrow and we still get a freshly made ring.maca1028 said:
In years past I'd probably be right there with them, it's funny what a World Series championship does for my patience with this team.
I watch a LOT of baseball. I am a coach/teacher and it's my summer TV. I'll typically put on a day game or an east coast game, switch and watch the Astros, then switch to a west coast game to finish off the night. I would venture to say that there are some summer days that baseball is on my TV for 9 hours a day. It's great TV to watch "passively" where you can still do things around the house but keep up with what's going on.NotGibbs said:
Having Stanton in the booth really makes you realize how lucky we are to have Blum. Stanton is absolute garbage

I like Stanton if for no other reason that he is different than Blum and more "old school" in the way he talks about the game. I definitely prefer Blum because he is funnier and he talks about analytics a ton and I like learning about the different stats.

Watched the condensed game. Couple things:
- Josh Reddick is such a joy to watch play this game. There is never anything resembling a loaf and he's genuinely pissed when he doesn't make plays. I feel like his competitiveness is the highest on the team.
- Look at this freakin pitch Altuve yanked into the LF corner. I never want to hear the "hitting experts" on this thread talk about him being too far away from the plate again.
Listening to either of them reminds me of how much I miss Larry Dierker. He was a student of the game, knew a ton of its history (especially the Astros), and had a good sense of humor. And he could actually go through one inning without talking about his own career.Quote:
I 100% agree. Blum understands his role, which a lot of color guys (especially Stanton) struggle to do. Blum is able to keep the commentary fun, while still adding good insight.
yep, that's what I postulated a couple of days ago. Can't be hitting in the .140 range. And can't have both Jake & Fisher on the roster together...with below .200 BA'sastros4545 said:
The Astros optioned Jake Marisnick to Triple A.
I agree with this. IMO Deshaies was the very best. I was pretty bummed when he left.irish pete ag06 said:I watch a LOT of baseball. I am a coach/teacher and it's my summer TV. I say that to say this, Blum is one of the best color guys in the game. Without question.
Agree with this. Ford is really, really good, IMO. Sparks complements him well.DVC2010 said:
I don't have TV, so I usually either go to the park or listen on the radio. Sparks and Ford are an excellent pair.
