I don't think we should pay him what the market will fetch.
I've spent my entire life with baseball as my favorite sport, and while I agree with the spirit of your post, another real part of baseball is momentum. In a way it isn't in other sports. Slumps, cascading mistakes, chains of bad at-bats, inexplicably bad home performance. It was easy to tell this series was over after Bradley's home run last night and I don't think anyone really thought there was still a chance at 4-0 tonight.
Still love the Stros. Still love baseball. But I will remember fewer wins from this season than I'll remember those three losses.

I'm with you man.
Said all along you can criticize the team and play and decisions but I've always had an issue with those that question a team's desire.
The whole 'Well they don't want it bad enough' or the 'Guess they wanna start golfing' takes are a cop out for uneducated fans.

Disappointing game but I have confidence we'll bounce back in game 6!
We pretty much lost because we couldn't get Devers and Bradley JR out, two absolute mediocre players.
Their hitters absolutely dared us to throw strikes and we refused. On the other end, they had very few situations throughout the series where they had to challenge us. We swung at all of their trash.
Lay off their trash, pitch them like we pitched everyone else all season, and we win in 5 and make them look stupid. Instead, we look stupid, against an inferior team.

Marwin has been here during he best and worst. And he's a rare talent. I think you do what you can to keep him. Kemp could fill his role, but probably doesn't quite make up for Marwin.
I just really don't want to let a guy walk who helped build and shape this team.

however Marwin is an excellent insurance policy when Correa gets hurt again

Should've asked me after I went to MMP in the summer to see him give up six runs in two innings to the Mariners.
Now that I'm just sardonically flying through the stages of grief tonight, I must admit it would feel weird to see him in a different uni. Even though he's a jerk, he's given us some great memories.
Just disappointed. I expected it to at least go 6 games. It's gonna be a long wait until the next Astros game.
Hope we can get the ship righted and get back to the playoffs again next year. With the way the A's came on this season, there is no guarantees (of course).

I think the Astros will try and keep Marwin but someone will pay him like a full time starter and contributor.

I would pay Dallas what he wants if he's only take 3 years. He's going to want 4-6.
I think Donaldson would be my #1 target. He's be a great spot starter at 3rd and be a nice upgrade at DH.
I doubt we go out and spend big money on a starter, but if we do and it's not Dallas then Eovaldi wouldn't be a bad option. We may need tonif Dallas & Charlie walk. I love Lance but he cannot he trust to stay healthy.
I don't love the idea of signing a 30 or 31 year old catcher. They don't age well. If we are I might prefer Grandal over Ramos.
Marwin is another guy I'd love to keep if the price is right.
