I don't necessarily think so. They still have to hit the high heat.

I think this is huge for James and I think Hinch trusts him. I think it's a decent move to see what the kid is going to give you in some high pressure situations. He can get big leaguers out.

I know they are looking at James as a starter but I wonder how much he would lose on that fastball if he had to pace himself. 100 for an inning is lethal. 94 is nice but hittable.

I agree that's what Hinch is doing. Which to me is half giving up.

But probably useful info to have. Probably even the correct move. I'm just frustrated by the crappy game tonight. Cole's error, Maldonado's terrible effort, stupid bounce on top of the wall. Now James is in and allows two more runners on top of it.

I guess the question is could he sustain 97 with movement as a starter. If the answer is yes, then that's super effective. Especially if he can empty the tank like JV and Cole at the end of their outings and pump it up to 99 and 100
