I think if the Indians lost one more, and we won one more, the vote total shift dramatically (which is why it's so stupid)... I guarantee you a large contingent of voters just voted because his team had the best record (and would even if a team had a $500 M payroll.

Molitor deserves to win in a landslide, followed by hinch.

Until that 22 game run they were underachieving. So my opinion remains that that 22 game run got him 2nd place.

And Hinch only getting one first place is asinine. Again I get Molitor and he deserves it but Hinch just edging out Girardi to place is disrespectful.

I didn't say the 22 game streak didn't play a big part in him getting more votes. But the fact is it happened. They were 69 and 56 immediately before the streak. On pace for 90 wins with an injury riddled roster. Hardly disqualifying considering the team did, in fact, go on an historic tear.

I think its a close toss-up between the two with a slight edge to Francona due to the higher lack of lineup stability Francona had to deal with most of the season.

Altuve won't be in trouble because of a 22 game streak. His chances of winning the MVP are helped considerably since Aaron Judge had a streak where he was terrible.


All in all, hard (easy, though) to believe there is argument about whether A or B should have gotten more first place votes when we think C should have been first place.

I'd agree there should be no doubt AJ Hinch did a great job managing through the missed starts and Correa's thumb and all that...

Are we really arguing or upset about a third versus second place finish for manager of the year?

I guess I will accept this as a positive development when compared to the posts that blamed everything and anything on Hinch most of the time the Astros lost.

I honestly think that this comes down to the nature of the award. A lot of times, it's diffi to see how a manager affects a team.

It's even harder when you write about a team in a completely different part of the country and you only watched the teams these guys manage maybe 10 times over the season.

I think the deciding factor in the eyes of the voters between Hinch and Francona was total wins.

And for the record, I'm surprised Molitor didn't win by a larger margin. I think he was by far the most deserving

Which is why most of us are completely fine with Molitor winning that award.

Just a bit disappointing to see Hinch finish behind Francona with 1 vote. Thought maybe after the year we had that we had broken that whole being overlooked under the radar stigma.

At least MOY isn't like football Coach of the Year where Nick Saban wins it for the SEC because he won the SEC.

They probably should just announce MOY and not really rank everyone else. Yeah it's a bit of a slap at Hinch to not recognize the job he did managing the pen in mid season with all the injuries and starts that got 5+ innings. But we are talking about beat writers. Not exactly Mensa level folks.

I tried tell them this, but they kept reaffirming that after the order has been placed for 30 minutes, it's "processed" and cannot be cancelled.

I may call the credit card company and tell them to decline any charges from them to see if they can do that.

geez that's ridiculous .... I could see after a few days or after it's shipped, but 30 minutes??

MLB just cancelled my jersey order I placed the day of the parade. It was one of the Blue alternate jerseys with no name on the back.

Saban has won coach of the year 3 times in 11 years at Alabama.

I got the blue jersey with no name at the min maid store but I went off the coat hanger size and it ended up being 2 sizes bigger. I had already tore off the tags so the cashier at the store said they wouldn't take the exchange. But the Manger came and said he would make an exception. However all that was left was Bregman jerseys so I had to get that.
